What's yours?

The Phoenix Legacy which is actually a science fiction trilogy. At one time i was a fan of David Baldacci and i like a good western.

These three books were given to me by my advisor in college. It helped straighten me out when I was just running wild and about to flunk out. They are one of the main reasons that I am seriously considering becoming a teacher.

The best summary of what it means to be black in America that I have ever read.

Probably one of the five or ten best American novels ever written.

Interesting.

I've SKIMMED MCP's. I have it in my library, perhaps it's time for a another read through.

I've read the Invisible Man.

Agreed. My boy at work is reading it now, Younger cat, Army brat, he on it though.

I'm going to check Chi's out.

An SWAT, I will DEF purchase those books.

Coming from a family of teachers, my business partner is a professor at a Community College, going for his doctorate, and I considered it.

But I remember my father telling me why he got out for awhile. He taught math, he was like he was gonna beat the shit out of some parents.

Now it's worse. I'm was glad when my moms retired. Besides the racism, the people who's skin looks like us. :(

One of my all time favourite books by the horror master, Stephen King.

I like most everything his done in the horror fiction vein, but this "Salems Lot" and the entire "Dark Tower" series definitely appealed to me the most.

Thieves' Paradise by Eric Jerome Dickey

Chasing Destiny by Eric Jerome Dickey

White Mans Justice, Black Man's Grief by Donald Goines

Theses are just the ones I liked the most but Ive read all types of books to many to count.

Shane, to be honest, the screwed up parents are one of the reasons that I want to teach. I coach 14 year olds basketball and two of the kids parents are younger than I am (i'm 31). The mommas are the laziest, worst parents in the world (I don't even know where the dads are :smh:). The kids have to get themselves up, eat, and walk to the bus, and the moms are still asleep when they leave the house. I feel like those kids don't have a chance unless somebody steps up to help. I also come from a long line of teachers and professors and I have always tried to avoid it, but the older I get the more I want to make a difference...
