some of the wiki and google stuff is kind of vague

i've often found him to be an interesting character but i've never been able to get a grip on who he is or his background.. mind you its been years.. i mean years since i read the original guardians comics

Major Victory = Justice = Marvel Boy = Vance Astro

Is he the same character as the 616? Not really. Marvel always pussy foots around the idea but storyline wise they are one and the same. He was kin cryo/ice lockdown like cap and he needs that skin tight suit to stay alive. He uses his TK ability to handle caps shield (that is cap's shield in the future) like cap would.

marvel boy that's running with atlas?

No. The last time I saw this Marvel Boy (Marvel has had 43 characters using that name/title since 1966) he was teaching the new recruits of the Avengers alongside Firestar during Dark Reign.

:lol::lol::lol:

i'm more confused than before :lol::lol::lol::lol:

He started out on New Warriors went on to join The Avengers - Some time in the future Earth is invaded by The Baddoon (bad ass alien race) and he is frozen (like cap) only to be thawed out in the future by The Guardians Of The Galaxy...where becomes leader.

he also is a bit of a recon. The version of Vance Astro that went into space and became Major Victory doesn't exist because Major Victory went back into time and told a younger version of himself to stay away from NASA. thats why two characters who are basically the same person co-exist. the original is Major Victory and the younger version of himself grew up to become Justice.

On top of that the current Major Victory in the guardians comic comes from a future where the universe was destroyed by the cosmic tear created in the shiar/kree war. That future seems to be based upon the tear being converted into a portal that all the evil cosmic cancer villians are popping out of. So in theory he comes from future but that remains to be seen.

if memeory serves me right he was a soldier who went through some experiment and woke up in the future

His real name is Vance Astrovik, which was shortened to Vance Astro when he joined his first superhero team, the New Warriors. Throughout his time with the team he was sort of their moral compass always trying to use his powers to keep from killing. During the series it was revealed that Vance was a teenager whose father was abusive to him and his mother. In one attack after suffering a defeat in his superheroic identity, his father attacked him and his mother and Vance accidentally killed his father with his telekinetic powers. He was brought up on charges and confessed to the crime. He was found to be acting in self-defense for the most part, but did have to serve a manslaughter sentence in the Vault. After doing so, he and Firestar quit the New Warriors and joined the Avengers.

Sometime later, and possibly from an alternate reality, Vance is put into suspended animation within a more hermetically sealed suit. He is awakened similar to Captain America's origin, only it is in the timeline in which the Guardians of the Galaxy exist... the 30th century. During this series, he goes on a quest to retrieve Captain Amrica's shield, which had fallen into the hands of a villain. Once it is retrieved, Major Victory changed his name to Captain Victory and moral of the remaining human race which is boosted by this symbol of Freedom and determination. Vance starts to use this shield in similar fashion as Captain America did and continued to do so until the Guardian of the Galaxy series was cancelled.

I have left out some details of course, butthis covers most of what has to do with this character.
