What ideals/values should be taught to ALL black children?

Might be a repost, might be a dead horse. I apologize in advance if it is.

I'm a little curious, I plan on having children some day (20 years from now, :D). I was thinking about what values I wanted to teach my children, and which traits I wanted my children to develop. I have a list, but I'm curious as to what other people think. I'm looking for a baseline for lack of a better term, to help get my point across: imagine if you lived in a community of only black people. And, you have a child; which ideals do you feel that ALL of your child's peers/friends/schoolmates should possess in order for them to progress both individually and as a group.

(Also, I don't want to make it gender specific, because almost any positive value can be applied to both genders).

Mine are:
discipline
teamwork
independence
love
toughness (reslilience)
patience
importance of education

I can think of more, but I'd like to see what other people think.

Man, this is beautiful...

Ambition
Valor
integrity
respect
decisiveness
wisdom
tolerance
respect for life

Leadership and respect for knowledge....

I think about this a lot - I dont have children yet

1) Fear of God

2) strong self-esteem - very important for our youth ,too many follow ,because they lack self-esteem - be who God made you to be

3) knowledge of African History

2) respect for others

Some of these are not values but also practices.

The capacity to love all humans and to share.

Discipline and hard work will bring rewards.

Nothing worth having comes easy.

Respect for others.

Respect and obey your parents and elders.

Never be afraid and/or ashamed to tell the truth even if you did something wrong or you know someone has done wrong to you.

Enjoy your youth. Enjoy learning and understand that as long as you're living you'll always make mistakes.

Question authority.

Read.

Pay it forward.

Put yourself in other people's shoes before judging.

Try to be honest.

Know the difference between friends and associates.

Don't follow trends, become one.

everything you all said and "STOP BLAMING THE WHITE MAN FOR ALL OF YOUR PROBLEMS".

off the subject but, i have 3 girls 14, 13(my girls daughter but she's like mines) and a 2yr old and i always tell my 2 oldest never let a man make or break you . you are beautiful and if i cant do it for you NEVER depend on a man be cause he will feel like you owe him or he owns you.

The importance of education and knowledge, and the power inherent in both
- Knowledge is the most powerful weapon in our existence
- You should strive to learn something new everyday
- You should teach someone something new everyday

Respect for one's elders, and the knowledge that could be learned from them
- History is best learned from those who have lived through it

Responsibility to humanity, and our planet
- We are responsible for improving the human condition
- We are caretakers to this planet, not owners, we should improve it for the next generation

The more complex the mind, the greater the need for simple fun
- When was the last time you played on a swing?
- When was the last time you rolled in the grass and looked in the clouds?
- When was the last time you had a simple snowball fight?

Do not Hate -- Have the capability to love everyone
- You do not have to like everyone, but Hate takes too much energy from you
- Do not feel disdain for those who hate you for no reason, but you should feel sorry for them

Invest in an artistic pursuit/hobby/activity
- While Science, Math, Computers, and Business are important, the arts are equally important
- Write, draw, paint, play an instrument, whatever (no matter if you are good or not) as a form of mental relaxation

All of these replies make me :) Say word. If everybody came at their kids like y'all are talking, black people would be RUNNING this bitch.

My big thing would be to teach my kids ALL of the above while NOT passing down my own anger and prejudices.

How on earth can you teach young black kids that they are beautiful, intelligent, powerful, and destined to lead this place WITHOUT teaching anger?
