OK, I'm starting some online classes on Monday and I have to have a wireless internet connection cuz I'm always on the go. Somone mentioned tethering to me but I'm not sure what it is or how to do it. I have a BB Storm and don't want to have to go through verizon to do ocuz they probably wanna charge an arm, leg and a kidney for the shit. So, what is it, how can I get it and can I get it free or do I have to pay for it?

Also, how reliable will it be and how fast of a connection is it?

u connect your phone as the modem and yes it costs an arm an a leg trust me i used to work for at&t

$35 unlimited data/200 txt - at one point I used it everyday at lunch and during the day to stream and I barely hit a gigabyte and that was when I was on the damn $45 5gb 200 txt plan. Decent speed on edge but even better on 3g - I was using a netbook or a low end notebook and I never got the urge to throw the whole thing out the window due to speed or lack thereof.

I also have the pay-as-you-go 3g usb data stick from Virgin Mobile...horrible. I prefer tethering to my phone because it is way faster and more reliable whether I'm doing bluetooth or a usb cable

Clearwire is the shit! The only problem with them though is right now they are limited in what cities they are in. I travel A LOT so I need to be able to connect anywhere I go. I started looking into Clearwire as an investment and I'm liking what I see. Prices are still reletively low so I bought a couple hundred. Dragonwire (Canadian company, as well as a U.S. branch) will be providing a lot of the hardware. Dragonwire has been quietly positioning itself as a powerful top leader in wireless broadband technology, AKA 4G. Here's a link.
