What does left, right and center mean?

Like Leftwing, Leftist, Rightwing, Center...
Originally, it describe the seating arrangements in the French and English Parlaments. The merchants and working class representatives sat on the left, and the nobles and the rich sat on the right.
Later, pundits applied the terms to bipolar issues as they related to their natural constituencies.
Meanwhile, Karl Marx suggested that the merchant class (Bourgeoisie) are not allied to the working classes (Proletariat). He claimed that the Bourgeoisie exploits the Proletariat.
In this country, Karl Marx's socialism became a dirty word, thus the left also became a dirty word. Any ideas associated with the left became tainted as well.
People still buy into this notion today, resulting in a comical struggle to associate and dis-associate various leftist issues.
For instance, the natural constituency of conservation is the conservatives, but the lumber industry tries to gain the support of the right by calling any conservationist a "tree-hugging leftist".
IN A NUTSHELL, the right wing media in this country calls any issue they are against "leftist". They even call the media itself "leftist" hoping that the media will move even further to the right trying to avoid the leftist label.
BUT IN FACT, RIGHT = RICH, and LEFT = NOT RICH! Find a pundit that isn't rich, and you'll have found the true left.

Hogwash! There are just as many rich liberals as republicans. That's the problem within our community to much misinformation about the left and right. Each year our community follow the left like lemmings and each year we complain about the same crap. BREAKING NEWS!!!! THERE IS NO SANTA CLAUSE TO BRING YOU FREE CRAP. Republicans are no way perfect but I rather follow the principles of a party that believes in the individual to make his own way than to follow a party (the left) that believe in the notion of waiting on someone to give you handouts. Think about it!! In your life time will you ever receive a job from a poor man? I started doing my own research and what I discovered was jaw dropping. Search for some of Malcolm's old clips on his views of each party. He was'nt to keen on conservatives, but he despised the democrats due to them hoodwinking our people for years.
Look at past election results prior to the sixties we split our vote between both parties. After Reconstruction, all blacks whom were elected were Republicans. The Democrat party founded the KKK, dont belive me look it up! One of the founding principles of the Republican party was to abolish slavery. Fact! More Republicans voted to pass the civil rights actof 1964 than Democrats. Lyndon B. Johnson stated that " I would like to thank my republican brothers for the passage of this bill". The founding fathers of the NAACP were white republicans. Many HBCU's were financed and named after Republicans.Roosevelt and Truman rejected anti lynching laws. Most Democrats are againts school vouchers, that would give black families a choice to move their children from failing schools into better equipped facilities. Most Democrats are pro abortion. As a race based on percentages (12% of the population) we abort more of our children than any other race. This is why there are more planned parenthood facilities in our community.
Republicans are for illegal immigration for the cheap labor which equates into more profits. Democracts see illegal immigration as way to create more victims and rob people of their dignity. Latino's have already surpassed us in population. Soon the democrats are going to drop us like old news. As i aforementioned, my views are not popular within our community. Many liberals on this board cant wait to post a quick reply and label me as a uncle tom or oreo or post infamous picsof colin powell. For example lets say there is a growing epidemic of chinese on chinese crime in the chinese community and there is am i wrong for stating a fact.

Left and Right are only indirectly related to liberal, conservative, Democrat, and Republican.
Left and Right are terms describing socio-economic classes of people, and not the politics that they espouse.
THE classic problem of the Right was that they were a small minority. There were more non-rich people than there were rich. The Right (the Rich) used the Press to divide the left, separating the Proletariat from the Bourgeoisie. (A.K.A. in America as Blue Collar and White Collar - both wage slave collars).
What we end up with is mis-informed people like Gunner thinking that people with $100,000,000.00 like the Clintons are Leftist, just because some of their ideas are Liberal.

The environment is a LIBERAL issue. Conservation is a CONSERVATIVE issue. Conserving the environment is an idea that should naturally unite Liberals and Conservatives against a SPECIAL INTEREST, the Lumber Industry.
You will hear a lot about Special Interest Groups in this campaign, just like in previous campaigns. This is what it is really about.
Environmental issues like Clean Air, Drinkable Water, Global Warming, and Sustainable Energy Sources puts everyone that lives on the planet on one side, and businesses that profit from raping the planet on the other. It is not Liberal, Conservative, Democrat, Republican, Left, Right, Center, Straight, or Gay. :wink:
Problem is, businesses that profit can use those profits to sway votes in Congress, State Legislatures, and Local Governments; and to fund campaigns. A healthy environment is good for people, but it doesn't put spending money directly in their pockets. Instead, people passionate about the environment form advocacy groups to raise money to combat special interests. Groups especially successful at raising money can afford to hire professional staffs (in fact, professionally staffed advocacy groups is often one of those chicken egg conundrums, i.e. Which came first?).
The success of the initial Advocacy Groups has led to the formation of all sorts of Advocacy Groups (a.k.a. Political Advocacy Committees or PACs). The focus of some of these groups is so narrow that they resemble Special Interests. The only difference is, it's not the thing they are advocating that is profitable, it's the fund raising that is profitable.
If you look up Special Interests in Wikipedia, you'll find Special Intersts lumped together with Advocacy Groups, Pressure Groups, and Lobbyists.
My point is that some of these groups represent ideas that are neither Left, Right, Liberal, Conservative, Democrat, or Republican. Other groups represent ideas that can be correctly classified using one or more of these labels. Mostly, Groups like to classify themselves and their opponents however benefits them the most, and their opponents the least. The one thing that all the professional groups have in common is that they are RICH; therefore, on the Right - even when the group or issue that they are advocating is not.

When other ethnic groups were living in American ghettos, they did the same things, which is why prohibition era America is one of the most violent periods in Amerikkkan history, and that was WHITE people killing each other, with high out of wedlock birth rates.

If we control the high number of 70% of out of wed lock births, it will have a tremendous effect on some of our social ills. It's sad that there are certain operatives within our race are more willing to assume the position of inferiority. We have to be progressive not regressive. While others are building the next best gaming system or finding a cure for diseases; we are still dwelling on ills of the past. Ask your forefathers if they would mind switching positions with you?
