What are Mayweather's Pad Drills supposed to help develop?




I am a boxing fan but anytime anyone asks me what EXACTLY this drill is supposed to emphasize or reinforce.

I cant really explain.

I think because he is so fast and it APPEARS as if he is just randomly hitting the pads with no real attention to detail (looking into the camera, etc.)

So can the fam explain what is the object and what it helps with?

Muscle memory, timing, accuracy, quickness. It develops coordination and maintains Floyd's reflexes and fast twitch muscle fibers sharp as fuck. Training means training the body to do these things even when you're mind might not be 100% there or your body isn't responding the way it normally does (in both cases, think after receiving a stunning blow like Mosley gave him, Floyd's body knew exactly what to do, cover up and hold on). But I imagine it would be effective really for a fighter of his type, a fast, defensive counter puncher. Hell, Floyd could do that shit in his sleep and fuck around, he just might.
 
Its like doing drills for quickness in running. You may see a track athlete doing quick steps in place. Its helps to develop fast twitch and reflexes.
