Quick and to the point. Do YOU think it is more natural for women to be more self-conscious than men or visa versa?

As far as self-consciousness goes I would probably go with men based off my observations alone.

There are more women than men in this world BUT naturally men tend to gravitate from their norm more than women. That's why men have been known to "fuck anything that walks" while women tend to be more selective. So why is it that sometimes it seems as if women are more self conscious then men?

A skinny girl will ALWAYS have more options than a skinny guy.
A short girl will ALWAYS have more options than a short guy.

Opinions welcome.

Here I think you are confusing social norms with self conciousness. A skinny girl will have options because society doesn't celebrate women with hips. I just saw on tv the other day some chick talking about how she is NOW happy with her body that she lost a dress size and she can flaunt her toned abs and thighs. Said she realizes she will never be a size zero but she glad she's a four.

:hmm:

I have never worn a size four in my life.

But dudes like that. And dudes like short chicks, or at least chicks that are not taller than them, (in some cases).

What would be interesting is why a plus sized girl would think she can't keep a relationship or asking a tall chick why she think men doesn't approach her. And likewise for the short and skinny men.

I'll admit it, I'm self concious. I could never understand why someone was attracted to me when I don't like my looks. I always thought I was fat, and now I am. But I'll tell you it takes a lot of work to get to that place and a hell of a lot more to try to get out of it. The actual issues of self conciousness has to do with each individual person and what they are focusing on and what got them to focus in on that thing.

Women are generally judged, first off, solely on their looks...and, we know, with age, our looks MAY deteriorate. So, yeah, I think women can be more self-conscious than men...

I've noticed I go through my highs and lows of thinking I look great and then noticing that extra weight, or the crazy hairs growing in crazy places (lol)...

However, I gotta remember that I'm a total PACKAGE: whether a man turns me down based solely because I'm not a size 4 (rather a size 10), or not a 10 in the face (rather, I think, a 7 lol) is ok with me...his loss...cause I make him feel like a 10,000 in the home...best believe it, baby :D

I would have to say that women are more self conscious than men. WE care more about how we look due to the fact that that's usually what we are judge on first by not only men but women. We tend to want to come out looking good if not our best just to make sure that people wont have anything negative to say about us to add on to the negativity we feel towards ourselves. I've noticed that I didn't become self conscious until my sophomore year in high school when I started to gain a lot of weight. Then I learned to cope with it. But even now I find myself a lil self conscious about the way I look even though I'm pregnant. I don't think that being pregnant is an excuse to come outside with clothes that dont fit or fit too tight. So I find myself constantly changing my clothes to make sure that nobody will talk about the way I look... sounds crazy but true
