I know this thread will be lost on some, since its subject is esoteric and only concerns hair. Still grooming is important, and having waves on swim (especially during no hat summer days) is a confidence builder. So, for 360 and 720 wavers, and all those in between, actual and wannabe, are TsuRags worth the money? For those interested, who don't know, Tsurags are basically Doo rags with velcro instead of strings. Youtube wavers rave about them.

On the surface, when you think about it, Tsurags make sense. No strings mean no lines on the forehead after wearing. After all, how many people tie their Doo rags too tight--which results in lines, if not scars, on the forehead?

Long story short, I bought a Tsurag because I was tired of having line imprints on my forehead after sleeping with a Doo rag. If I don't tie my Doo rag tight before bed it's off when I wake up: I toss and turn a lot when I sleep. So, after many, many, shipping delays, I finally got my Tsurag in the mail and slept in it.

Tsurags suck, in my opinion. When I wore it comfortably it didn't stay in place. When I wore it tight enough to stay in place it cut off my head's circulation. Moreover, it came off the first night I slept in it. Although I somewhat regret buying it, it was only $13.00 after shipping. I won't sleep in it again, but it works good over short time spans and looks good enough to wear during a gym workout. What say those who own one?

As for products, since I'm older, and my hair doesn't grow like it used to, I only use all natural products. I mainly only moisturize. I recommend As I am Double Butter Cream. I use it with Cold Label's Wave & Scalp Butter and Cold Label's 360 Wolfin Pomade--when I'm out all day. Although I still have work to do, using those products makes my waves look amazing. Woman stare, and my barber puts my head on his shop's webpage damn near every time he trims my hair.

Any products I'm missing that you recommend? What about S7? Anyone tried that yet?

I've never been a doo rag user like that which I know limits my waves.

I have a tsurag, and I like the comfort of it. I use it on occasion but not as much as I really should.

I plan to really go heavy this summer and start using a wave cap with the tsurag to really lay my shit down and enhance my waves.

For now I just rely on brushing, rarely any doorag use, but my shit still tight, but can be better

As for products to use, I'm all over, but for now I have these:

Wave Builder Cocoa and Shea Wave Butter Moisture Revatilizer
Wave Builder Cocoa and She Pomade
Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie
Shea Moisture Three Butter Styling Pomade (Shea, Mango and Avocado Butters)

I also have the standard Olive Oil Creme and Carrot Creme shits.

Again, I don't really put in as much effort as I should and can, but my shit is decent. I don'y have 360s, but my shit is still wavy.

I got tired of maintaining my waves and let them go. But they work.

Sometimes I get tired of doing all this shit too. To be honest, I can't wait for winter to roll back around so I can let my waves go and just wear beanies. But since it's summer and females are wearing less, and looking good, I feel compelled to step my game up.

I do a 30 minute session before I go to bed, and a 20 minute session around the time I wake up. Then, I get as much brushing as I can in during the day--usually 5, or 10, minute sessions here and there.

That before bed session is a bitch, though. Sometimes I come home tired and just want to go to bed. I don't always get 30 minutes in before I go to bed; but on those days I always make myself brush for at least 10-15 minutes and wear a Doo rag. Along with my progress, watching wavers on Youtube helps me stay motivated.

I use to wear a stocking cap on my head then put my du-rag over it. Then tie it around starting from my eyebrows. That way I have less line across my forehead and the line goes away faster and if my du-rag came off at night at least I have my stocking cap on. But depending on how big your head is I would double tie it and usually it stays put through the night. I know some of my homies been wearing du-rag so long he has a permanent crease across his forehead like aging lines. Every time he raises an eye or gives a surprised look the line just magnifies.

Tie them du-rags so tight it be cutting of circulation brain all dehydrated and shit.

I use to use Murrays because of the hold I tried this other brand that would harden after applying but I forget the name but I didn't buy it much cuz it was expensive and I didn't see it in Sally's much. I can't use those soft creams for waves my hair is too stubborn no matter how much I try to tame and train it, it won't lay down without a strong holding cream.

But I don't even rock waves no more but my hair still maintains that sort of pattern. I just let my hair grow out and taper the sides now let my natural curls flow. I just use Blue Magic or Hollywood Beauty Olive Oil and just go.

Dawg you gotta take your brush everywhere you go if you serious. I use to keep my shit in my back left pocket and wip it out and brush my head while I was waiting in line or walking in the mall or bathroom visits etc. Like bitches checkin they mirror every five minutes. You have to become obsessed with brushing your head. Coming up as a kid when I use to go places with my cousins my auntie use to pat me down before we left the house to make sure I didn't have a brush on me. She was trying to be so uppity she thought I was ghetto for having waves and brushing my hair all the time wondered why I couldn't rock a regular flattop like my cousin her son.

You gotta be committed to your waves. Bruh I'm talking I was so committed to my waves I use to even brush my head through the du-rag. With the du-rag still on bruh. That serious.

But yeah that shit was too much work. But it's probably why my hair still wave up so easy now without doing much to provoke waves.

^^^^^^

It's hard to get waves when your hair is 2cm long. I haven't been serious about keeping my waves in 20 years. I used to brush it probably 10 times a day and put wave gel in my hair. Now that I'm older waves look weird to me.

What do you cats recommend for brothas with straight hair...hard as fuck for me to get waves

Peace brotha. Brush, brush, brush and tie it up all the way until your hair is like 2 inches. Wolf. Do not cut for two months. Wet your military brush while doing your routine. Pack it down.

Oh... You an ole Eddie Munster hairlined ass old fella unk.

For that head, you need to grow your hair out more. You probably can't do that short cut wave shit. Grow your hair out more like that country boi in that video and try 360 waves. Brush the shit out of it slap a du-rag on and repeat day in day out.

When my shit is tight, I really don't need a brush...

(Only when I've worked them I can do this)
Wave cap overnight...
morning apply a hot towel...
smooth down with Shea butter that's a wrap....

Man, I've been waving for about 5 months now. I'm very, very, pleased with my progress. Once I get my crown right, I may enter a competition. I don't know if I'm obsessed with my waves, but getting and maintaining them definitely changed my lifestyle.

I do carry a brush with me whenever I'm out long. But I usually only brush the front and back of my head when I'm out. The waves on my sides are at angles, and I know I can't brush them correctly unless I have a mirror.

I wear a doo rag and a stocking cap. I make my stocking caps from $.33 cent queen sized Wal Mart stockings. After I brush, right before I put them on, I wet my doo rag and stocking cap so that they'll shrink and provide more compression. I don't know how many times I've woken up and had to loosen my doo rag's ties because they were too tight.

I feel you on wearing doo rags around the eyebrows to avoid lines. In fact, I thought I was the only who knew that trick. Doing so temporarily affects my vision sometimes. But, I'm more than willing to deal with it in moderate intervals to avoid scars. Moreover, I willing to deal with it because I know my waves amaze.

Really, maintaining this hairstyle is too much work, sometimes. The results always make it worth it, though. Moreover, waving saves me money because instead of getting my hair cut once a week, like I used to, I've only had my haircut twice in 5 months.

A trick I learned, that I recommend to every waver, is to use hair oil before you use pomade. I use hair oil every other day, or so. After I moisturize, I use about 2 drops of Cold Labels 7 Juices and Berries mixed with 2 drops of Olde Jamaica Black Castor Oil Treatment with Tea Tree Oil. After using those two products I'll wear my doo rag and stocking cap for an hour, or two. Then, I'll use a pomade and wear my doo rag and stocking cap for another hour.

Doing this will make your hair look noticeably, and remarkably, black and healthy. Moreover, your waves will be extra moist and shiny. I'm simply shocked that more wavers don't speak on the benefits of using hair oil. I believe that using hair oil is a secret that elite wavers don't want to share.
