Man, that movie was long as fuck and had WAY TOO MUCH MALE NUDITY for my taste.
Even though that blue mutha fucka Dr. Manhattan is partially a computer graphic generation, he is nude throughout 90% of the time he is in the movie. I know what y'all are thinking "How come you couldn't just ignore him?" Becuase the mutha fucka was a main character with hella screen time. Sorry but that shit got annoying. Its easier to ignore male nudity in porn because there's a female to focus on. They kept homeboy front and center damn near every time he was on the screen. :hmm:
Rorschach was that dude. Its like they took Ben Stiller's character from Mystery Men and made him serious and even more fucked up in the head.
I wouldn't take any children to see this film AT ALL. Its violent as fuck and graphic as hell. They break arms and show the bones snapping n' shit. Since I haven't read the comic book and didn't know shit about this flick, I had no expectations. All I know is that they could have probably shaved a good 40 minutes off this shit. Its not a bad movie but it was overdone and probably overbudget considering the end result. I'm glad I screened this because I wouldn't pay to see it.

Hollywood got away with it with the X-men but I don't think that shit's gonna get covered up in the final release. Last I've heard, the MPAA don't play that shit. Watchmen gonna fuck around and get an NC-17 rating.

You're right. I'm not a fan. Like I said, I was completely unfamiliar with the story and characters. I will say this, they damn sure ain't the X-Men. People going in expecting some X-Men or Avengers type shit will be disappointed. The characters are pretty much dysfunctional individuals and all but a couple have some deep-seeded, fucked -in-the-head shit going on. What was overdone was the script. They try to drive home too many details and the presentation of the characters seemed a bit haphazard. They tried to tell everybody's story in too much detail and then they waived back and forth between time periods too haphazardly as well. It was all over the place and then still tried to keep the main storyline going. While it did accomplish that, they could have done it without all of the details. What I have learned about movies is that you have to pick a style and roll with it. If you're going to do a "guess who" or a "whodunit" style film then you have to do that. If you're going to do an introduction of heroes film, then you have to do that. Its not wise to overlaod a movie with character details and then have plot twists. They were trying to do too much in this movie. If they had focused a little more, they could have effectively pushed out a better flick than they did.

Also, Dr. Manhattan is eventually naked for a significant portion of the comic. It directly correlates to his increasing distance from humanity. :hmm:

Co-sign. It would do people good to research this film before seeing it (i.e. to keep those from expecting an action packed X-Men/Avengers/Justice League sort of film). Watchmen is a COMPLETELY different animal than those.:cool:

Yeah I knew this would be a tough movie to shoot. I figured the director would try to crunch as much as he could into a 2hour movie. A problem they faced from the very beginning. To capture all the proper details in from the comic it would need a few more hours but you risk loosing your audience attention. You are right though anyone going to see this shouldn't expect a regular X-Men super hero story.

True true but from what Mo is saying I think I will like it. Too much detail is a good thing for me because it tells me they put time into getting the characters right and possibly more indepth.

True true but from what Mo is saying I think I will like it. Too much detail is a good thing for me because it tells me they put time into getting the characters right.

Because I don't know the characters, I can't say if you'll like it or not but I would think so if you're a fan. 2 hours? Try 2:45. Piss before you sit down to watch it. It really seemed like a fan-oriented movie. The audience responded well to it. I do like the fact that it was nothing like the typical superhero movies.

he was beyond the nromal thinking of humans, beyond the petty rational of society.

he even duplicated himself once in an attempt to make his sex better for his woman, but she was pissed when she found out he'd actually tripled himself and was inhis lab at the same time.

I didn't expect the LIVE action movie to be showing a mans genitles like that. You know how hollywood do.

I guess they wanted to keep it WAY real with the movie. But your right about his nakedness. I guess having it that way in the movie would drive the point home Alan Moore was trying to make in the comic. Which is a good thing. Knowing this I have some good hope the movie will stay true to the comic.
 
You all really should least GLANCE through the comic before seeing the movie. It's not your typical comic and you would have been better prepared. At least fucking wikipedia it.
 
I won tickets to the premiere for Wednesday, March 4th. Shitty thing is we got the email last Thursday and then were to log onto another site to enter in our RSVP code to claim our free passes to the film. I logged on a day later (Friday) and all the passes had already been used up.

I emailed one of the contest organizers (she's good people, and I've emailed her in years past with other contest wins) and asked what the deal was. She was emailing/calling some of the other contest organizers on my behalf trying to figure out if tickets were remaining (as contests overbook in case they are unable to fully fill a theatre on sneak preview nights). So she'll get back to me today or tomorrow in regards to if she can scrounge up free tix for tomorrow for me.

Thanks. I didn't know it was out yet, I'll check it out. Though I'm not familiar with the comic books, I'm a CG fan and been keeping track of the production.

BTW, CG naked people are not real naked people. :hmm: :lol:
