Wanted felon who once begged courts for help paying child support for his dozens of kids captured in Tennessee

A wanted felon in Tennessee with at least 100 previous charges and as many as 30 children was taken into custody on multiple charges, authorities said.
In May, police in Knoxville began searching for Desmond Hatchett, 42, after he was accused of multiple crimes in connection to an incident last February.
“Hatchett was wanted for seven outstanding warrants out of Knox County, including for aggravated burglary, aggravated domestic assault and failure to appear on charges of rape, robbery, aggravated assault, aggravated burglary and violation of order of protection,” the Knoxville Police Department said.
Around 6:15 p.m. Sept. 5, officers spotted Hatchett in a red Ford Taurus and attempted to pull him over but he sped away, according to police.
Hatchett allegedly then abandoned the vehicle and he and officers got into a brief foot pursuit that ended with his arrest.
In addition to the outstanding charges against him, Hatchett also now faces additional charges of evading arrest and several additional minor charges, police said.
WVLT-TV reported Hatchett has a lengthy criminal record and has racked up over 100 previous charges through the years.
In 2012, Hatchett pleaded in court for the state of Tennessee to help him with the 30 children he had fathered with as many as 11 women, according to Memphis station WREG-TV.
Explaining how he had so many children, Hatchett reportedly told the judge: “I had four kids in the same year. Twice.”
WREG-TV reported at the time that Hatchett held a minimum wage job and some of his babies’ mothers may have only been eligible to receive as little as $1.49 monthly.
