A viral dance video of a USC majorettte team is receiving backlash for embodying HBCU culture at a white institution.
The eight-second video clip shows the majorettes going full out in USC two-piece sets, with the Twitter user Princess Lang uploading the video to show her creation.
“oh nothing… I created a majorette team at a PWI and performed at our first game,” she wrote.

“Truly though i’m so blessed and can’t thank God enough. Thank you to my parents and to
everyone who supported me along this LONG journey. and my girls FYE The Cardinal Divas of SC are UP NEXT.”
The video sparked a huge online debate between PWI vs. HBCU institutions, with users suggesting Lang attend an HBCU if she wanted a Black college experience instead of sharing this experience at a white college.

On the other hand, the dance team has received significant support for their video, with Saweetie and Bring It! alumni Dianna Williams retweeting the video while showing love to the girls.

I went to USC and Morehouse College.

USC is in the heart of South Central LA. Their cheer leaders are boring. I'm all for this young lady bringing our culture to the school. Fight On!
