US 'Iran attack plans' revealed

... It is understood that any such attack - if ordered - would target Iranian air bases, naval bases, missile facilities and command-and-control centres.
Well, if you were going to attack -- any kind of attack -- those would be, in almost every instance, likely targets. A successful strike against a vegetable stand would only be successful if (a) the vegetable stand was hit; and (b) the strike force is able to return safely to base. A strike would at some point be detected. The enemies ability to respond would be directed by command and control; anti-air missiles, fighter aircraft and naval anti-air would all be part of a reasonably coordinated response. Hence, if you draw up a plan, whether it be used or not, draw up a real damn plan for success.

I'm betting the farm is all a bluff ... and all of these stories that keep getting "Purposefully Leaked" are just par for the course ... part of the bluff ... just another stimuli (the "stick") while others use the carrots.

I hope you are right, we don't need a 3rd mess in the mess in the middle.
Yeah, I hope I'm righ too. But our present deployments/commitments make me believe that a ground campaign is virtually out of the question, given the situation in Iraq.

So, if an attack is in the offering, it would most certainly be a coordinated Naval and Air Force air strike. But, considering what Iran's response might be in the days following (raining missiles over Israel; a cesation of its oil deliveries; increased activity from the Shiites in Iraq and Lebanon; possible Hezbollah activity around the world, maybe even in the U.S.) --- the fallout would be too much for GW. GW doesn't control the Congress as he once did and as soon as the adverse fallout from a strike start to hit average Joe at home in the U.S. (at the pump and elsewhere) GW's head would be served up on a platter.

On the other hand, with 2 or 3 carriers at this very moment in/near the Persian Gulf, recently beefed up air power in Turkey, the presence of air power standing by in Iraq and Kuwait, war and rumors of war and preparation for war hitting the news damn near daily = the Iranian's can't Bank that our present circumstances make an air strike impossible or unlikely. The only thing working in the Iranian's favor right now is the American Public Pulse - which is decidely becoming anti-war. And thats GW's fuck up. If we weren't bogged down in Iraq - neither Iran or that two-bit Chavez would be taking chances now. lol

If america does do anything I hope it is for a legit reason, one which I cannot think of and not for fuckiing israel.

If israel and iran go at it, america should stay out of it.

All the reasons bush gives for iran are bullshit.

Why shouldnt iran be involved heavy in iraq when it is right next to them?????

America is meddling in iraq and it is half a world away, and the whole reason to invade was a "threat".

IMHO iran has every right to be all up in iraq.

Thank god bush no longer as control of the congress but the dems still acting like pussies.

I say let diplomacy work, and leave israel and iran at each others mercy, I would much rather piss off israel, who doesnt have anything of use to me as far as I am concerned then to piss off iran and have oil prices go high as hell.

You ever notice how Iran and Saudi Arabia are not trying to enter Afghanistan and help the Taliban? They have muslims in Afghanistan. The only reason these countries want to go into Iraq is to control the oil and expand their empire. Once the US leaves Iraq, they will go in and fight for as many areas of oil as possible. If they really cared about other muslims, they would have sent weapons and military personnel into Afghanistan like Iraq.

People that complain about the US wanting the oil in Iraq should look at Iran and Saudi Arabia. They would love to align themselves with the Shia and Sunni and control major oil fields.

Report: 3 Gulf states agree to IAF overflights en route to Iran

Haaretz | February 26, 2007
Yoav Stern & Yossi Melman

Three Arab states in the Persian Gulf would be willing to allow the Israel Air force to enter their airspace in order to reach Iran in case of an attack on its nuclear facilities, the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Siyasa reported on Sunday.

According to the report, a diplomat from one of the gulf states visiting Washington on Saturday said the three states, Qatar, Oman and the United Arab Emirates, have told the United States that they would not object to Israel using their airspace, despite their fear of an Iranian response.

Al-Siyasa further reported that NATO leaders are urging Turkey to open its airspace for an Attack on Iran as well and to also open its airports and borders in case of a ground attack.

According to a British diplomat who spoke to an Al-Siyasa correspondent, Turkey will not repeat the mistake it made in 2003, when it refused to open its airspace to U.S. Air Force overflights en route to attacking Iraq.

British newspaper The Daily Telegraph reported Saturday that Israel is negotiating with the U.S. over permission for an "air corridor" over Iraq, should an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities become necessary.

Deputy Defense Minister Ephraim Sneh on Saturday denied the reports and said Israel has no such plans.

It's Jimmy Carter's weakness coming back to bite America in the ass!

First

The US does not need to Occupy Iran

We can get their attention from the air

About 6 month of 24/7 carpet bombing should work.

What would be the difficulties in moving 160,000 GI's out of Iraq into Iran!

There is nothing stopping the militaries but Political Will.

Waiting could mean dealing with 2 North Korea's.

War Between Iran and Israel would be conventional and nuclear.
Countries like Iraq and Syria would be affected.

By the time it's over millions could have died.

Iran will not be CONTAINED.

Unlike North Korea.

Iran has a whole Army of
suicide bombers and stealth bombing camels

P.S
If the French security service can't warn French women that it's time to shave their arms and legs. How in the fuck could they have warned anyone about 911?

People do not understand whats in stake here.

Pussies in this country only looking at 3100 deaths. The bad thing about it, if we all UNITE for this war, the enemy would have lost a long time ago. Playing politics during war is the easiest way to lose a war. Don't believe me, ask the roman empire, and ancient Greece.

Thats it, keep blaming disaster on debate instead of failed policy.

What policy would we like to see changed the one where the great
Evil Satan AKA America is trying to stop the killers in the Iran regime from gain access to nuclear weapons?

I guess our governments polices should be allow Iranian nuclear blackmail
.
Like we are allowing North Korean nuclear blackmail.

While Iran is training and supplying our enemies in Iraq we should change policy towards them?

I get why a Japan needs nuclear power but Iran is rich with Oil.

Whether we change policies or not Iran we still be building The Bomb.

I think it's too late to stop Iran.

There is lack of a constancy in policies and agreement between the Western Powers along with Russia and China on how they go about resolving this Issue.

The UN, Iran, European powers and George Bush may say that there is a "diplomatic solution!"
But Iranian diplomatic maneuvering so far points to stalling for time.
"Finding a Solution" will going until one day, two or fifteen years from now, or maybe sooner, Iran will announce to the world "guess what we have The Bomb."
Then comes a serious middle eastern nuclear arms race.
Who else will obtain The Bomb Hezbollah or Hamas?

If the Western Powers are serious about Iran not obtaining a nuclear bomb.
The only other logical action to take would be to invade.
Europeans must be in the lead If thats the case.
They must suck it up like America has in Iraq and send their sons and daughters of to war.

Most likely Europe not Israel will be testing ground for the first Hezbollah style homicide nuclear bombing.

Other than that lets just welcome a nuclear Iran with more ICBM pointed at their chests than we had pointed at the USSR.

Policy change

so then what exactly would be a plausible solution to this mess? some say the policy is messed up and the cause of everything, while others say its too much debate and politicing in general. what is the REAL issue here?
