I worked with guys like that. Most of them were nam vets and were pretty decent guys.. Oh yeah, they love their weapons... All of the field nam vets would sleep with their 16's and thats how most of them are today. They cant sleep without a weapon near them.. Im not sure if today military has their soldiers sleep with their weapons, when I was in there if you had your weapon you would sleep with it and not let it leave your side.. I dont sleep with a weapon, but I would if needed!! Anyway, I all for people having as many weapons as they want!! Thats what the 2nd amend is about!!
No it's not...
Yeah, Thats how I read it!! What you read is on you, bro..
You either have poor reading comprehension or you're reading the condensed NRA version that encourages a citizen's arms race.
Either way, the 2nd amendment is not about owning as many guns as possible.
Don't move goalposts. That's not what we were talking about AT ALL.Hmm... If your enemy is stocking up on arms and doing it in the name of the 2nd amend.. You really think I care what your reading of the 2nd amend is??
Don't move goalposts. That's not what we were talking about AT ALL.
You said the 2nd amendment is about owning as many guns as possible and I'm saying it's not.

EXACTLY!Peace,
Cats conveniently forget about the “In a well regulated militia” part.

Ok I'll say this slowly for you.How many guns can I own??
Ok I'll say this slowly for you.
This is not about how many guns you can own
*Pause*
This is about your post which incorrectly states that the second amendment is about owning as many guns as you want.
It can end any and every discussion you want. But don't go around saying or speaking about things you have absolutely zero comprehension of. Again, my discussion with you was never about how many guns you could own or should own. It was with your lack of understanding of the second amendment and your statement insinuating that it was about owning as many guns as you wanted, which is FALSE.If you want only one gun, thats on you.. But, im going to have as many as I want.. End of discussion
EXACTLY!
You gotta take this shit for contextual value and look at it in that vacuum of what was going on in those times.
This was written shortly after dispatching the Brits. Americans didn't like the idea of a standing military because it reminded them of British rule and citizens didn't trust that. Plus, at that time it wasn't feasible to have a dedicated, standing army because of logistics. It's not like today where you can have a couple hundred soldiers (or more) anywhere in the US in an hour or less I'm some instances. You go that route back then and you'd have entire cities turned into ashes before anyone ever arrives to dispatch of the troublemakers.
So in leu of having a standing US military, the founding fathers went with state ran militias, and that's who had the right to own weapons.
The NRA lopped off that whole section of the 2nd amendment and now we have what we have today.
Yup.Peace,
That’s also the reason why the (racist ass) NRA chooses to fight its battles via lobbying as opposed to the courts.
