Man tell em! 70s and 80s Chicagoland growing up was a unique experience. "Battle Of The Planets", "Speed Racer" even Godzilla is all old school Japanese anime. Will have to peep this. Brings back memories. "Pacific Rim" the film that came out a few years ago was in the same vein.
Just wrapped up the season... shit was so good that I added season 1 to the movie thread ....

My only issue is that I fucking Hated the English Dub... they have gotten light years better on their dubs these last 6 months but this one was horrible...
Stick with the original Japanese ... it’s much better
I would put this right there with Aijin, Seven deadly Sins, and Balkai as my favorite Original Netflix anime series.

There has been multiple Ultramen for a while fam...
The shit we saw as kids isn’t even close to the different types of Ultraman series... they have been cranking out yearly Ultraman series since the 70s...
The last 10 to 15 years have had multiple ultramen..
What I liked about season 1 is that it acknowledges that Shiro’s son hasn’t opened up all the powers because the previous Ultraman was 10 stories tall and this one wasn’t ....
Also a villain stated that the suit he wore was Earth based tech unlike what the original Ultraman wore...
That’s why the suit had limitations...
The next season... will likely have him merging with Ultraman like his father... so he can get fully powered up.. basically shenji and his father are being powered by the residue energy that Ultraman left after he separated from Shiro in the OG series. Thats why Shiro didn’t have any memory of being Ultraman... just like in the OG series... Ultraman Left his body to save his life and wiped his memory to protect him.
So basically everyone is calling themselves Ultraman here... but really.. no one has the OG light inside him. .... YeT
Personally I really like this season... but I hate that they rushed through the shit with jack and Red...
I haven’t Red the manga but when I looked at the Wikia .... the parts in the manga involving Red looked cool as shit.
