But Tyler Perry helped to improve the life of one kid on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Wednesday, when the film and television mogul gave ten-year-old rapper Young Dylan his own television series to star in.
'You're going to have your own show on Nickelodeon,' the 50-year-old Gone Girl actor told the shocked boy.
'That's gold!' shouted the elated kid rapper, before hugging Ellen and Tyler.
Perry will write the project, which according to Variety 'tells the story of a family whose world is turned upside down when their nephew, an aspiring hip-hop star (Dylan), moves in unannounced.'
Dylan has made semi-regular appearances on Ellen's hit talk show since he was just seven years old.
In a recent interview, Perry talked about the hardships of his own upbringing.
The Madea Goes To Jail star admitted to People magazine that his desire to create dream worlds began at a young age as he used his imagination to escape his traumatic childhood.
The movie mogul grew up with an abusive alcoholic father and was sexually abused multiple times by family friends before he reached the age of 10, but knew that creating was his 'escape' from the hardships at home.
