Sleepy Hollow Renewed for Season 4

13-sleepy-hollow.w529.h529.jpg

Fox will attempt to get you to trust them again by renewing Sleepy Hollow for a fourth season. The move comes after the show controversially killed off Nicole Beharie's Abbie Mills in the season three finale, leaving the show without its female lead and network TV with one less WOC in a starring role. Beharie reportedly had long wanted off the show, with discussions for the shocking twist happening as early as before season three even went into production. Nikki Reed and Zach Appelman will also not be back, according to a season four cast list. So when Ichabod Crane returns, he'll not only be less one head, but less a lot of co-stars. Spooky.

:hmm:

This show is gonna be shit without her...
Wonder what's keeping her so busy that she wanted off the show.. I haven't saw her in shit else

Probably just wanted out after she saw the direction the show was going. They was killing off everyone it seems like it. idk if she worked on much while doing the show. It probably had her missing some good roles while working on the show. Yea they might as well bring into the black panther.

Tom Mison Breaks His Silence About Sleepy Hollow Season 4 & Nicole Beharie's Exit

Tom Mison is just as curious as you are to find out where Sleepy Hollow will go in season four now that it's missing leading ladyNicole Beharie, who was killed off at the end of season three. The show followed the time-traveling Ichabod Crane (Mison) and cop Abbie Mills (Beharie) as they investigated supernatural phenomena (including the one that allowed Crane to wake up hundreds of years in the future). Now that one half of the Ichabbie team is gone, how will the show continue?

"I always thought of Ichabod as the sidekick," he told The Realistic Optimist and other outlets at London MCM Comic Con over the weekend. "Abbie is the one the audience can relate to so when you're entering this insane world of Sleepy Hollow, you go with Abbie. She's been the guide and Ichabod is this insane man in the periphery."

He continued, "I never really was, funnily enough, interested in Ichabod's backstory in the beginning…that changed a lot in season two when they then did start to explore Ichabod's backstory and family and things, so it'll be interesting to be where they go without that crutch because I still think Abbie was grounding that as well. I'll be very curious to see whether they decide to find another way to ground Ichabod in reality or whether they think he's an inhabitant of the modern era enough that he can do it on his own. I don't know what they're planning, but I don't envy them having to make that decision!"

Mison also addressed the outcry over Beharie's character in particular dying. "When you have a woman of color in the lead role, it's not just a woman of color in the lead role. It immediately means so much more than that across the whole of America. There's a woman of color in a position that not very long ago she wouldn't have been," he said. "It comes to symbolize so much more. So when something like this happens, when they kill off said character, of course it's going to mean an awful lot more, consequently."

Before you worry too much, don't fret: Mison said he and Beharie are still friends in real life. But as the writers sit down to begin planning season four, Mison does have a few hopes for his character.

"It seems to have been set up that Ichabod will go and join this new organization set up by Washington," he explained. "I would really like, particularly if it does take Ichabod to Washington, we are entering into one of the weirdest times in modern American history. To have Donald Trump running for president—that's weird! That's just weird. And I think if we are going to be shooting in Washington we shouldn't hide from the fact that there has to be some dark underground force that is making this surreal turn of events happen."

Sleepy Hollow will return midseason on Fox.

Sleepy Hollow Renewed For Season 4—But Another Star Is Leaving the Show

Sleepy Hollow rides on!

Fox has renewed the cult favorite drama for a fourth season, the network announced on Friday. While the network didn't reveal much about the fourth season, the returning cast was confirmed:Tom Mison will definitely be back as fan-favorite Ichabod Crane, while Lyndie Greenwood, Lance Gross and Jessica Camacho will also be back.

Missing from the list? Nikki Reed, who joined the show as a series regular in season three as Betsy Ross, Ichabod's ex, as her storyline concluded at the end of season three. Reed will not return as a series regular.

Of course, the series is set to move forward without its original starNicole Beharie, whose character Abbie Mills died in the season three finale. #RIPIchabbie

"The finale featuring the tragic death of Abbie Mills was a very dramatic ending and a bold move for the show, Sleepy Hollow has always been known for its shocking finales," the studio, network and producers said in a statement. "We feel we provided a wonderfully poignant conclusion for Abbie and showed some of the best moments between the Witnesses that we've seen on-screen. We thank Nicole Beharie for bringing Abbie and Sleepy Hollow to life. We are currently discussing season four, and should the series be picked up for another season, we have some exciting scenarios and new avenues we want to explore."

In addition to Beharie and Reed, Zach Appelman is also not returning as a series regular for the fourth season, after his character Joe Corbin died in one of the final episodes of season three.

In its announcement about the renewal, Fox promised another season of "supernatural creatures, inexplicable events and the search for the truth about the lives of Witnesses."

Are you excited for more Sleepy Hollow? Sad to see Reed leave the show? Sound off in the comments below.

The first details have emerged about the Fox drama’s retooled post-Abbie era, and the show’s fresh direction boasts several parallels to the network’s paranormal juggernaut The X-Files — beginning with Crane’s new partner in crime.

In the wake of Nicole Beharie’s departure at the end of Season 3, TVLine has learned that Sleepy Hollow is introducing a new female series regular opposite returning leading man Tom Mison. The character, Anna — like Abbie and X-Files‘ Scully before her — is a raging supernatural skeptic, which, per the casting breakdown, “creates conflicts with Crane.” The single mother and former military officer recently began working in the Secret Service’s “Basement,” a low-priority X-Files-like division.

“She’s got a tough, take-charge personality, punctuated by a wry sense of humor,” reads the description. “She’s a born leader, but she also has a softer, more caring side which she rarely shows.” Anna is “fiercely devoted” to her 11-year-old daughter Stella, a protective instinct Crane respects and appreciates.

Producers are casting a wide, ethnically diverse net for the thirtysomething character, so scroll down to the comments and help them narrow their search.

Sleepy Hollow Season 4 will air Fridays at 9/8c beginning in early 2017.

Something tells me there probably going to be a few"Stella is in DANGER!!" episodes

Sleepy Hollow Adds True Blood's Janina Gavankar as Ichabod's New Partner

By Kimberly Roots / July 22 2016, 5:59 PM PDT

There’s a new woman in Ichabod Crane’s life, and she’s played by someone who knows her way around supernatural drama.

True Blood‘s Janina Gavankar has nabbed the major role of Diana, a Secret Service agent who will work closely with Sleepy Hollow‘s remaining Witness in the upcoming third season, TVLine has learned.

The new character, on which TVLine exclusively reported earlier this month, is officially a guest-starring gig, but fills the void left by the departure of series regular Nicole Beharie.

Diana is described as follows: A single mom and former military officer who’s currently a Special Agent for Homeland Security. She’s got a tough, take-charge personality, punctuated by a wry sense of humor. She also has a softer, more caring side which emerges when she’s with her young daughter. Initially she doesn’t believe in the supernatural, and that creates conflicts with Crane. They also clash because they have different ways of approaching missions: While he’s methodical and research-focused, she’s active and task-oriented, which is reflective of her military training.

She rarely talks about the father of her child — a person she cared for, even though she never saw a life together with him — but she’s fiercely devoted to her daughter and will do anything to protect her, an instinct Crane appreciates. After her partner goes down in the line of duty, she and Crane will find common ground in their shared sense of loss. And the two of them will quickly realize they have another important point of connection — though not one anyone would expect at first.

Gavankar’s joining the cast is part of an overhaul of the struggling Fox series, which is also losing series regulars Lance Gross and Jessica Camacho and switching its setting to Washington, D.C. for Season 3.

In addition to playing shapeshifter Luna on HBO’s vampire series, Gavankar’s TV credits include The L Word, Arrow, The Vampire Diaries and The League. She most recently appeared on The Mysteries of Laura.

Sleepy Hollow is slated to return at midseason.

straight bullshit.
i ain't watching. they killed off all the black people that made the show the actual show
i already know how it went down.
wait there's too many niggas in prominent roles in 1 show and they're taking the shine away. we thought the show would be about the white guy but he's losing star power to the rest of these great actors and actresses
so what we'll do is we'll kill these talented niggas off
and then recast and make it "more diverse and cultural"

A revamped Sleepy Hollow (0.62) and the beginning of the final season of Grimm (0.9/4) saw both the Fox show and the long running NBC series take a tumble from their previous debuts. Coming on after Rosewood (0.6/2), which was down a tenth from its last original, the Season 4 opener of Sleepy Hollow fell 40% among adults 18-49 from its Season 3 debut on October 1, 2015 and 33% from its Friday premiere of February 5 last year. As for Grimm, while maintaining 100% of its May 20 Season 5 ender in the demo, the fantasy crime drama was down two tenths from the Season 5 premiere of October 30, 2015 – which was its previous debut low.

With that, the Comcast-owned net must be breathing more than a sigh of relief that a double dose debut of Emerald City was able to build on its Grimm lead-in. With a 1.1/4 in its 9 PM slot and a 1.0/3 at 10 PM, the Wizard of Oz reimagining grew 22% on its 8 PM lead-in in that first hour. Over the 2-hours, Emerald City averaged around 4.47 million viewers – just a tiny bit ahead of the 4.46 million Grimm had earlier in the night.

Of course, with all that, the night belonged to ABC and CBS with the former topping the demo for Friday with a 1.4/5 rating and the latter getting the viewership top spot as usual with an audience of 9.74 million. Viewershipwise, the top dog was, as usual, Blue Bloods (1.3/4) with 10.71 million tuning into the NYPD family drama, which was up 8% in the demo from its last original of December 16.

However, the real king of Friday night was Last Man Standing (1.5/5) with a 25% rise over its last original of December 16 and its highest rating in exactly two-years. The Tim Allen led comedy also had an audience season high with 7.3 million viewers. Topping the night as the highest rated show, LMS saw led-out Dr. Ken (1.1/4) jump up 22% over its last original to hit a season high in both the demo and viewers with 5.5 million watching. Over on CBS, MacGyver (1.2/4) came in second for the 8 PM slot with a 20% jump over its last new show. A double shot of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend on the CW at 8 PM and 9 PM had the acclaimed dramedy even with its last original of December 9 with a 0.2/1.

Back with a 40% rise of its last original of December 9, Shark Tank (1.4/5) hit a season high and won the 9 PM slot over those Sleepy Hollow and Emerald City debuts and Hawaii Five-O (1.2/4). Still the 50th State set CBS show was back fairly steady with a 9% bop up in the key demo.

ABC closed out a very strong Friday with a strong 20/20 (1.4/5) that saw the news mag show with the biggest uptick of the night. Rising 75% in the 18-49 over last week and 82% among the news demo of 25-54, 20/20’s examination of ex-members of the Church of Scientology also scored a season high in viewers with 6.4 million watching – a 52% rise over last week.

See ya at the Golden Globes on Sunday!

that IS true she did want off...

they DID still handle it badly though.

OK I finally saw it...

and yes my baby girl wanted to leave but it is VERY apparent that the producers of the show wanted THIS EXACT show all along

and they finally got their wish.

This is Crane's show now.

No question point blank period.

And I hope it works out.

Cause now its JUST LIKE every other show...nothing different unique really

(obviously that BRILLIANT original concept was just TOO MUCH for them creatively which become MORE and MORE apparent as it went on)

I knew the partner was gonna die 2 minutes in, knew the twist the "surprise" guest etc...

(they need to REALLY work of the special effects too...I don't remember them being this bad before

It isn't BAD, Its just a regular FOX show now.

I think I may watch off and on but this is nothing to recommend.

again its not bad.

Is EXACTLY what THEY wanted the show to always be, and hopefully because of that?

it will excel.

Cause NOW they got no excuses.
