Some of my best memories with my grandpa (passed in 2006). Sitting and having a meal and watching stuff like Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, boxing, basketball, or pro wrestling and talking about life.
Grandpa was a quiet guy ... but he would open up in 1-on-1 conversation.

He was a real one. Married to grandma for 60 years. They had their ups and downs but stuck it out. She passed just under a year and a half after him.
On their 1st date he took her to a diner. Said to her to choose anything on the menu. She picked something modest (knowing he was broke). He said he always respected that gesture from her.
We celebrated his life on his birthday about 6 months after he passed. He lost a number of his friends to boating accidents / capsizings. We went to a fish & chips place (one of his fave meals) and then spread his ashes in the ocean and at a fisherman's memorial nearby at a park just off the ocean.
