Official Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Discussion (9/24 @8PM)

Marvel’s Mockingbird Series Starring Adrianne Palicki Lands ABC Pilot Order

Despite putting a halt on the “Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD” spinoff, which was proposed earlier this year, ABC is closing in on a deal to order a pilot for a project centered around Mockingbird, Variety has learned exclusively.

Titled “Marvel’s Most Wanted,” the drama will focus on popular “SHIELD” characters Adrianne Palicki‘s Bobbi Morse (also known as Mockingbird) and Nick Blood’s Lance Hunter. The two actors will topline the pilot and prospective series.

“SHIELD” producers Jeffrey Bell and Paul Zbyszewski co-created the project for Marvel and ABC Studios, co-writing the pilot. They will serve as showrunners and exec producers together with Marvel’s head of television Jeph Loeb also exec producing.

Insiders say the series is not a spinoff, per se, but rather an entirely new project solely focused on the two characters to continue their story. Though plot details are scarce at this point, “Marvel’s Most Wanted” will follow the pair and their adventures together.

At this time, ABC has not made any decisions regarding premiere date or a path of introduction, such as introducing the new show as a planted episode during “SHIELD.”

An “Agents of SHIELD” offshoot was originally reported in April, but was soonafter shot down with the network deciding not to move forward. However, during New York Upfronts this spring, ABC president Paul Lee alluded to the possibility of the series being resurrected, teasing, “It certainly is a possibility of spinning them off.”

Lee added that “SHIELD” had hit its creative strive, suggesting that the net didn’t want to mess around with a formula that was working — which includes Palicki and Blood’s storylines. “We absolutely love those characters on ‘SHIELD,'” he said, at the time.

But with “SHIELD” coming back for Season 3, in addition to “Agent Carter” returning for Season 2, there’s still a large Marvel appetite at ABC. Also in the works at the network, is a top-secret Marvel project helmed by “American Crime” creator John Ridley.

Marvel's Most Wanted: Oded Fehr Cast as 'Well-Known' Comic Book Character in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Spinoff Pilot

Covert Affairs favorite Oded Fehr is spying a very juicy new role, on ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spinoff pilot.

TVLine has learned that Fehr has boarded Marvel’s Most Wanted as “a well-known character from the Marvel comics who will prove a force to be reckoned with” for former S.H.I.E.L.D. agents Bobbi Morse and Lance Hunter (played by Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood).

Additionally, Fernanda Andrade (Red Widow) has been cast as Christina Santos, the tough-as-nails niece of Dominic Fortune (played by Delroy Lindo). Fortune and Santos work side-by-side appearing to help Bobbi and Hunter while also pursuing their own agenda. Word of the castings first appeared on SpoilerTV.

In the potential S.H.I.E.L.D. offshoot, Bobbi (aka Mockingbird) and ex-husband Lance are on the run with no friends, no S.H.I.E.L.D. and a long list of enemies looking to claim a bounty on their heads. Able to trust no one but each other, Bobbi and Hunter form an uneasy alliance with Dominic Fortune, a rogue adventurer with a wealth of resources and even more adversaries, who agrees to protect them so long as they help him with his own agenda. While on dangerous missions that take them to every corner of the globe, the two heroes will help anyone in need, all while trying to uncover the conspiracy that put their own lives in jeopardy.

According to TVLine, Delroy Lindo (Blood & Oil, The Chicago Code) has been cast in the spinoff of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., entitled Marvel's Most Wanted, as Dominic Fortune. Described as a "costumed, fortune-seeking adventurer", David Fortunov has appeared in Marvel comics since 1975, making his debut appearances in Marvel Preview #2 and Marvel Super Action #1.

It is important to note that this is the first non-Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. cast member so far revealed to be a part of Most Wanted, as he joins Bobbi Morse (Adrianne Palicki) and Lance Hunter (Nick Blood).

Not too much is known about Most Wanted as of yet, except that a pilot has been ordered for the series.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Posted March 26 2016 — 5:55 PM EDT

In the wake of losing two of their own, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.will continue to explore the consequences of being an agent.

That concept is especially prevalent during Tuesday’s episode, in which Mack (Henry Simmons) attempts to take some personal time and returns home to his brother, played by Friday Night Lights alum Gaius Charles, only to be pulled back into the fray when a group of anti-Inhuman Watchdogs strike close to home.

“It was a lot of fun,” Simmons said at the show’s WonderCon panel on Saturday, explaining that Tuesday’s outing was a welcome respite in the wake of Mack losing two of his closest allies. “It was also fun coming off the episode where we had to say goodbye to Bobbi [Adrianne Palicki] and Hunter [Nick Blood], so it was good shooting that.”

When EW recently hit the set of the ABC super series, Simmons expanded on what’s in store: “They’re exploring a little bit of his life outside of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” he said of Mack. “The opportunity where they explore how lives are affected, families are affected, by if someone is S.H.I.E.L.D. and they aren’t allowed to tell, ‘Hey, I’m in S.H.I.E.L.D.’ They’re not allowed to talk about that, and just how relationships are delicate and strained when you’re in S.H.I.E.L.D. and you can’t really tell anyone what you’re doing. It’s difficult.”

Agent Carter' Canceled at ABC; 'Marvel's Most Wanted' Not Moving Forward

Conviction, which has been looking good for a series order as Carter fans are left to ponder that cliffhanger ending.

Additionally, ABC has passed on picking up Agents of SHIELD spinoff Marvel's Most Wanted after redeveloping the project from last year. Following the adventures of Bobbi Morse (aka Mockingbird) and Lance Hunter, SHIELD favorites Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood were set to reprise their roles after exiting the flagship series earlier this season. Delroy Lindo, Oded Fehr and Fernana Andrade were set to co-star in the drama from writer Paul Zbyszewski.
