When Cosby returned to TV comedy in 1996 with CBS's Cosby, he called on Rashād to play Ruth Lucas, his character's wife. The pilot episode had been shot with Telma Hopkins, but Cosby then fired the executive producer and replaced Hopkins with Rashād. The sitcom ran from 1996 to 2000. That year, Cosby asked Rashād to work on his animated television series Little Bill, in which the actress voiced Bill's mother, Brenda, until the show's end in 2002. She also played a role in the pre-show of the "Dinosaur" ride at Walt Disney World's Animal Kingdom theme park. In 2003, she was honored as Woman of the Year by the Harvard Black Men's Forum. In 2005, Rashād received an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts (D.F.A.) degree from Brown University. She played Kill Moves' affluent mother on Everybody Hates Chris. In 2007 she also appeared in the Psych episode Gus' Dad May Have Killed an Old Guy. In 2008, she appeared in the television adaptation of A Raisin in the Sun. She currently stars on Broadway as Big Mama in an all-African American production of Tennessee Williams's Pulitzer Prize-winning drama Cat on a Hot Tin Roof directed by her sister Debbie Allen. She appears alongside stage veterans James Earl Jones and Anika Noni Rose, as well as film actor Terrence Howard, who makes his Broadway debut as Brick.

'Fresh Prince' Co-Star Slams Will Smith In New Tell-All Book

janet-hubert-slams-will-smith.jpg

Forner Fresh Prince of Bel Air star Janet Hubert, aka Aunt Viv, has penned a tell-all memoir that lashes out at Will Smith for sabotaging her and other actors who worked on the hit comedy.

The 53-year-old actress was fired from the show in 1993 and replaced by actress Daphne Maxwell Reid. Her book “Perfection Is Not A Sitcom Mom” will be released in early 2010.

Here are some explosive excerpts from the book via BVBuzz:

On Will Smith sabotaging his co-stars: “Smith had people around him who made sure no one outshone him. I was happy to see Don Cheadle become the quality actor that he is, and often wondered how he made it past one episode, as Hilary’s boyfriend, being such a fierce actor. No one could be on The Tonight Show, that first season, except Will. And I mean no one.”

On a guest star being too impressive an an early rehearsal: “I recall the lovely and incredibly talented Countess Vaughn coming to guest star. Oh my God! The day of table read, she was pee-in-your-pants funny. The writers were howling, we were howling, so I knew she was history – banished into the cornfield. Many years later, after she had her own show, I had to tell her when she asked me why. ‘Miss Janet why did I get cut from the episode,’ she asked? Simply, my darling, you were too good.”

man that bish is bat shit crazy.

She's a far more substantial person and talent than Smith, and certainly was back then when Smith's EGO was running amock (without justification). I'm sure his obnoxious "coon" act on that show was disturbing to her, nevermind his power hungry attitude.

Denise had my heart from the first episode...shit, I was 13 or 14 when it first came on, so she was like 2 years older than me, and I was in love with her.

Throughout the show, Theo had some bad ass girlfriends who came through though. That one that played Lona Herman....:yes::yes::yes:

I went to school with the little light skinned chick who played Vanessa's friend Pam Meiser. I think she had been skipped ahead in school a bit, but she was still a good bit older than her role, as is common (but her imdb page has an age for her that has to be a lie).

Definitely "Vanessa"'s fast-talking friend "Kara" (Elizabeth Narvaez).
