Thanks to his mom Clair's connections, Theo (Malcolm-Jamal Warner) manages to get hold of two tickets to the next taping of his favorite TV music show "Dance Mania", and takes his pal Cockroach (Carl Anthony Payne II in his final series appearance ) along as guest. Unfortunately, only one of the boys is allowed on the dance floor due to the fire code, so Theo gallantly lets Cockroach take his place--never dreaming that Cockroach would actually accept! The result: Cockroach becomes a classroom celebrity, and Theo goes ballistic! ​

Looking back...was Cockroach WRONG?

Clair gave her SON the tix and Theo hooked up his best friend...shouldn't Cockroach have fallen back? At the time I understand the lesson being taught but if this had ACTUALLY happened to YOU would you have let Cockroach leave you behind? If you were Theo would you have forgiven Cockroach?

During the 1986-1987 season of The Cosby Show, Theo's close friend and co-conspirator was Walter "Cockroach" Bradley. Carl Anthony Payne played the role in 12 episodes of the series, and might have featured in more had he not had a falling-out with Bill Cosby. Payne had decided to grow his hair out, despite Dr. Cosby's preference for a clean-cut style among the male actors on his show. When Payne failed to comply, the Cockroach character was summarily squashed.

that's all I was telling my cousins...we got into t a whole debate.

Like I said at the time I was a child and understood that Theo should have been straight. But hell Cockroach should have chilled and been like man you hooked me up go head...he would have looked great in the eyes of everyone and probably would have stayed on the show

sitting around with old friends and family the other day and we realizing we got kids and some of us even got grand kids now...

and how everything was different back then and not just the music or TV but how we were raised and exposed too...

I'm saying that they were THEO'S tix and his MOTHER gave them to HIM so it is for HIM to go...not his friend.

I aint disputing inviting his best friend but I am very disappointed he didn't realize that the tix were his to go on the show not Cockroach.
