Not a big fan of most of the shit on the tube today as it stands.
The Wire was one of the few reasons why I turned the TV on in the first place and one of the three reasons why I still subscribe to HBO (Bill Maher and Inside the NFL being the other two).

That being said, for the past 4 years (not including the first season) I had something to look forward to watch (in terms of a drama). Now that the show is practically done, I'm currently looking to find something new.

So far I've found this:
Breaking Bad (AMC)
breaking_l.jpg

Synopsis:
Breaking Bad is an American dark comedy/drama television series created by X-Files producer Vince Gilligan. The series stars Malcolm in the Middle's Bryan Cranston as Walter White, a struggling high school chemistry teacher with a handicapped child and a pregnant wife. When White is diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, he "loses it" and turns to a life of crime, setting up a meth lab in order to support his family.

So far (1st episode), it's been pretty good.

Anyone else have any other shows worth watching.

DEXTER: IF YOU HAVE NEVER SEEN IT, YOU REALLY NEED TO.. GREAT FUCKIN SHOW. IT GETS A LITTLE ANNOYING AT TIMES, BUT IT ALL WORKS OUT.

LOST: IS GREAT, THE NEW SEASON (#4) IS STARTING NEXT WEEK!

heroes_keyart.jpg

HEROES: THIS IS GOOD SHIT ALSO, S1 IS FAR BETTER THAN S2 THO, WHICH I THINK SUFFERED BECAUSE OF THE WRITERS STRIKE.

Nip Tuck.....last week one of the doctors fucked a bitch off a ledge. On next weeks show - after falling to her death he is trying to cover the shit up and since he is a main character.....he probably will.

If you have BBC America the season premiere of Torchwood comes on tonight..as well as the new season of Doctor Who w/ martha jones as his companion(already saw it on the SciFi Channel)

I can vouch for this one. I know that Lost has let a lot of fans down over the last couple of seasons with too many questions left unanswered. I heard that the first half of the season will be aired and then there will be a 6 month break untill the second half due to the writers strike. IMO i hope they say fuck the original writers and get some new ones so that they can start answering some questions. I dont like the direction the show has gone in the last season or two.

All in all Lost is still a good show.

That Dexter shit looks funny...aside from 24 though I am not impressed by regular TV...everybody hyped Prison Break up and that show is a big fukkin joke...Lost is like a serious version of Gilligan's Island...I lost interest in that shit after the first season...never gave Heroes a try...I'll probably check it out too...

lost is the best of all of them IMO... although they did seem to change directions in mid-stream with some of the characters, the shit stayed consistently good.

give it another watch..

Hey Playa, I usually reccomend this a couple times a year...If you really are not into paying for premium cable channels here is the best way to save you some serious cash:

1. Get basic cable - No Premium channels and save a bundle

2. Get Bit Torrent software - free on the net

3. Book mark HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, etc... and stay up on their new shows that you may want to see...

4. After finding a show you want to see, go to your Bit torrent sites like www.mininova.com, search for your show and down load for free

5. I have not had premium channels for going on eight years and have never missed an episode of The Wire, Soprano's, Brotherhood, L Word (some freaks on there)

6. In addition, you can download movies, music, videos, software, books, pics etc... and all for free...

7. Try it...add up what you download, and you will find that you have saved thou$and$ a year for Cable, Music, Movies, software, books, etc...

I think of it as a try it before you buy it...If I really like something, like Music, I might buy it...

Movies...Ever gone to see a movie, pay $40 bucks (you and ya girl, popcorn, drinks, etc..) and the movie sucked? Do you get your money back? HELL NO! So fuck it, I watch first run movies via Bit torrent...Sometimes I can't wait for the best copy or I just WANT to GO TO the theater, then I will pay...

Bottom line, It's an alternative and will save you a lot of cash...

'The Wire': A Prequel Movie? Bunk Pitches To HBO & David Simon

http://theplaylist.blogspot.com/2008/01/wire-prequel-movie-bunk-pitches-to-hbo.html

So Wendell Pierce, the love able, cigar-chomping, drunkard murder detective "William "Bunk" Moreland has apparently pitched "The Wire" show creator David Simon a feature-length prequel idea that would revolve around the Barksdale family and how they rose to power.

We read this a couple days ago, in what we believe was the L.A. Times, but can't find the piece (anyone?), but regardless found the same information on PageSix.com. "We're trying to convince HBO and David [Simon] to do a movie of 'The Wire,' " Pierce said at a recent red carpet event for the New York premiere of the fifth and final season. "We've acquired financing from people who are interested in filming a prequel to [the show]. Now we're going through a writer's strike so everything is kind of dormant, but we hope to get back in their and pitch the movie to HBO."

HBO if you're listening, pleeeeeease do this. Wire-heads can't get enough. The Pagesix piece doesn't have any mention of the Barksdale empire angle, but the aforementioned article we can't find definitely does. Anyone find the article we're talking about, please send?

An idea for a sixth season was thrown around by 'Wire' writer David Mills that could've focused on the growing Latino population in Baltimore, but Simon felt they didn't really have anyone on the staff that was an expert in the field and it would've taken a couple years of research.

Can you believe this critically acclaimed show has never won an Emmy and only has been nominated once? "I don't give a [fuck] if we ever win one of their little trinkets," Simon told Newsweek contemptuously. "I don't care if they ever figure out we're here in Baltimore."

Season 5 debuts tonight on HBO, but as we mentioned earlier this week, it's been on HBO OnDemand since last Sunday and we've already caught it twice. The show's Tom Waits penned theme song, "Way Down In The Hole," is covered by Steve Earle this fifth season.
