Here's why airport security takes so long
Travelers are told to arrive at their departure airport three hours before their flights, because TSA agents are fleeing the agency in droves.

I keep reading about 3 hour waits at the airports because there aren't enough TSA agents. But why? You don't even need a GED to become a TSA agent, and they start out $15 to $21/hour plus all of perks of being a Federal Employee. Seems better than flipping burgers or being a cashier for $8/hour with minimal benefits. And it doesn't seem to be *that* stressful of a job. So why is it so hard get and keep quality TSA employees? Are the agents intentionally slowing down the process as their version of the police officer's "Blue Flu"? Am I overthinking this? What is the REAL deal?

I have two friends who work TSA. One at DCA the other at Dulles. They say they hate working TSA operations.
If you get in try getting training for another position soon as possible even if you haven't been there long.
Just get off operations.
That check baggage shit is for the birds the way I hear it.
A lot of bullshit to deal with from screening people in a timely manner and keep the line moving at a steady pace while managing everyone.
But I hear BWI is the worst though. They call their TSA D-Block over there. lol smh

Oh yeah. I forgot.

One of the big issues my friend kept telling me was, she said it's hard to get good ratings on job performance.

They do a lot of assessments of on job performance and the higher ups were always screwing over a lot of employees on their performances.

There's like 4 or 5 categories they score you on. I think the highest rating you can get in each category is all 5's and when they did evaluations they would intentionally give out all 3's or a few fours even if you had very good performance. They would find something wrong in order to low rate you so they didn't have to pay you the performance bonus or something like that. So you couldn't promote as fast either.

She told me there was some pressure from congress put on TSA to change how they operate because they were spending too much money and they had to get rid of a lot of those positions up top. So instead of doing that they started cutting money from employees on the bottom and they did that through the performance evaluations. Senior positions up top are being greedy and hording money that's was suppose to go to lower level employees or TSA agents for good job performance.

That's the gist of the way I understand it. It's actually hard to get fired from TSA the way I understand it even if you are extremely incompetent. So if people are leaving the job it's because of some shit like that on top of racism and how they run and operations is just a hell hole and needs to be changed. My friend has been trying to promote for the longest and she has been with TSA for 10 years she said. She is a supervisor.

Also I hear the TSA hiring process takes a long time. Sometime you can be waiting for a whole year before you get contacted to go take your screening exam. So when you finally do get on many have already been in the process of getting other jobs and quit TSA soon after being hired to go to the other job.

It's also usually far away from the city. I purposely have shaving razors in my bag, I'm waiting to see when I'll get stopped.

the racism is real and the higher ups get a lot of bread and only want a select few in those positions which of course look like them..there's def bread when u get to a certain point and position..i kno bout the racism cause my cuzz won a lawsuit cause he's in that field..they was trying to avoid him from getting to a certain point..but they failed

This. I worked there right after 9/11. My 1st week on the job was the 1 year anniversary.

Most people get in and go on to borders n customs or the on plane federal agents
:yes:customs... my cuzz got a lawsuit off them.. but overall he make bread off that

She said many people either do a year and try to go to other agencies like customs or federal air marshals. I hear there are a lot of black FAMS.

Definitely the exact same way it was explained to me as well. :smh:

They should get some of those kiosks from Wendy's. ..

all joking aside why couldn't this be possible?

If the alarm goes off THEN someone comes over.

But you can empty your own pockets, but your bags and jacket through the machine.

Probably better faster and more efficiently then an agent.

whatever happened that pre-screening ticket they were touting back in the day?

Look mane...these niggaz go through your bag and STEAL..went to Vegas and someone went through my checked bag and stole loose pills and black watch and bracelet..be very careful with your valuables.. Brah

Oh yea it goes down. Again as someone that worked there the good 1's will do it right in front of your face.

If you can selected for additional screening DO NOT TAKE YOUR EYES OFF YOUR STUFF.

I think the max you can travel with or at least it was when i worked there was 10k. And you'd be shocked how many foreigners have that in their bags.

Doing bag searches right in front of passengers my man would spot the cash cuz typically it was in a bank envelope and typically $100 bills he'd grab a handful and b4 he pulls his hands out of the bag he's unrolling the plastic gloves he had on over the money he's grabbed and it just looks like he's an agent about to throw away used gloves. Nigga got a glove with about a G in it and nobody is the wiser

Because if you thought patrons of fast food flipping out because of god knows what was bad, wait until the computer allows someone odd in. There's not enough insurance in the world to cover such a travesty.

None of that matters in most airports. I've worked several airports that have bank branches and full restaurants in them, they water down aflight staffs drink just like any regular customer. People that work at an airport don't give a shit if a ticket/boarding agent has an attitude - because it's the same job! The two TSA I know leave when their shift is over and return the next day and that is all they have to say about the job.
