trying to break into porn. Any suggestions

No, I'm not trying to take my clothes off, however I am about to graduate from a sound arts program. A good part of my training includes boom miking, audio mixing, and post production. I've considered using porn as a way to get a professional foothold in those fields. I'm in Northern California and I know there's a fair amount of x-rated movies filmed out here so here's what I'd like to know.

1) Do audio people make real money in this field?
2) If so, how do you apply and get jobs?
3) Can porn be a stepping stone for higher budget projects with more "respectability"

Anyone who can share any experience or knowledge in this field would be greatly appreciate.

To answer your questions:

1) Yes they make real money, very lucrative trade

2) Like most things in entertainment, "who you know" is a major factor so networking is definitely a good starting point.

3) Porn in general can limit your access to bigger projects & clients (companies simply dont want the association in some cases). However, if you've been doing it for a while and acquired vast amounts of experience doing sound & post work, the fact you were working in porn sorta becomes irrelevant.
