NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – The NYPD is searching for a man who’s been stealing women’s shoes right off of their feet in a strange, months-long spree.

At least three thefts have been reported in Brooklyn and Queens in incidents spanning late January through late May, police said Friday as they released an image of the suspect.
In each case, the man grabs a woman’s foot and steals one shoe before taking off.

The most recent theft was last Tuesday afternoon at the Rego Center mall in Rego Park. A 24-year-old woman was walking in the mall’s parking garage on Queens Boulevard around 12:15 p.m. when the man came up and removed her left shoe, police said.
Months before that on Feb. 9 in Brooklyn, a 24-year-old woman was on a staircase at the Grand Army Plaza station in Park Slope around 11 a.m. when a man grabbed a Nike sneaker off of her left foot.
The earliest reported incident was on Jan. 24, when the man followed a 24-year-old woman into an accountant’s office at Lenox Road and Utica Avenue in East Flatbush and stole the shoe off of her right foot.
No injuries were reported in the thefts.
