The truth has never mattered to Donald Trump, which is never more obvious than when he talks about the support he has from the black community. “I’ve always had a great relationship with the blacks,” says The Donald. He also says that Hispanics love him, that the President was born in Kenya and that he’s a successful businessman who never went into bankruptcy.
None of that is true, of course, but it seems whenever Trump opens his mouth with a new lie, his popularity increases. It’s almost as if the people who back him are either racist bigots who think they have a clue what’s actually in the constitution, even though they’ve never read it, or mindless imbeciles who think if he’s elected President they’ll get to watch him fire senators and ambassadors at 8PM eastern on Thursday nights.
The completely ridiculous nature of Trump’s entire campaign is why this story is absolutely hilarious, but in no way unbelievable.
The Donald booked a speech that was billed as an address to 1500 people at the South Carolina African-American Chamber of Commerce’s annual conference, but it turned out to be an address to little more than 500 standard issue white Trump supporters with a few dozen conference stragglers stopping by.
“He’s very entertaining,” conference attendee Donna Newton told MSNBC after the event as she laughed with two friends. “The stuff that comes out of his mouth is unbelievable.”
Trump believes it. He used the speech to once talk about how great he is, how he alone wins all debates because while the pundits may not think he performs well, “the people are smart.” The people who support Donald Trump? Not so much.
Trump also used the speech to declare himself the unanimous favorite among black people:
“Here’s a poll: Trump receives 25% of the black vote in general election … If you win 25% of the black vote, it’s over, you win!”
That’s some powerful stuff. He’s absolutely right. If Trump were to get 25 percent of the black vote in a general election, chances are he could win. Unfortunately the poll he keeps quoting doesn’t exist, and the entire narrative of black people supporting his racist platform is a load of horse sh*t.
The latest Quinnipiac poll gives 3 percent of the black vote to Trump against Clinton in a straight up Democrat vs. Republican race, and 5 percent if Trump runs as an independent against Hillary and Jeb.
Donald Trump is delusional. His campaign is finally on the decline — as expected — and before long he’ll be on Twitter and whatever talk show will have him, bashing every candidate from both parties, claiming he’s been treated unfairly.
We can only hope he goes full toddler and tears up that silly pledge nobody believes he’ll honor to drive himself into bankruptcy running as a 3rd party candidate.
Can’t you just hear it? “I said I wouldn’t run as an independent. I’m not. I’m running as the nominee of the Trump party. We will build a wall. We know how to do great things.”
The sooner this bloviating blowbag is kicked to the curb the better off we’ll all be.
