I wish I had an answer that was simple or made perfect sense, but honestly this is some of the shadiest nonsense I've ever bore witness to. The proper way would be to rework the entire political system from the ground up. That means electing and supporting candidates (first at the local levels, and then nationally) that are not all about the B.S. that the current administrators are. That means being honest, accepting honesty from politicians, and not just falling into your default bubble of supporting the person with the same shirt as you. Eventually, we would flush out all/most of the corrupt people and get some bodies in there that will do their jobs instead of catering to lobbyists.
But that, as they say, is a lot of work. And it relies on people, collectively, to even want to make that change happen. The problem we have now is that so many people want to see the world burn, they could give a fuck if they're standing on it, too. Even now, Republicans in Congress know damn good and well that Trump is unstable. But they're doing and saying nothing. Even people who voted Trump acknowledge that he's batshit crazy. But what are they doing? Sitting on their hands.
2018 will say which way this goes. If voters finally put these ignorant assholes on notice that they can't just do what they want, hurt people in the process, and lie like bitches about it and get away with it, then we might have a ball game. Otherwise, this gets ugly. And when that happens, change may come, but nobody's going to win.
