GOP firestorm over Trump's
attack on McCain and POWs

Donald Trump mocked John McCain – and by extension other members of the armed services held as prisoners of war – saying that being captured by the enemy does not equal heroism.

“He’s not a war hero,” [said] Trump about McCain,
[McCain as a Navy pilot was shot down over Vietnam]
“He’s a war hero because he was captured.
I like people that weren’t captured.”

McCain was tortured during his five and a half years as a prisoner of war and refused preferential treatment because of his father’s high rank in the Navy.

Republicans reacted with anger and outrage -- at Trump’s remarks, made Saturday at a forum in Iowa of candidates for the Republican presidential nomination.

Former Gov. Rick Perry -- himself a veteran and a rival for the nomination, demanded that Trump withdraw form the race as unfit to serve as commander in chief.

“Donald Trump should apologize immediately for attacking Senator McCain and all veterans who have protected and served our country,” Perry said.

“As a veteran and an American, I respect Sen. McCain because he volunteered to serve his country. I cannot say the same of Mr. Trump. His comments have reached a new low in American politics,” Perry said. “His attack on veterans make him unfit to be commander-in-chief of the U.S. Armed Forces, and he should immediately withdraw from the race for president.”

Former Gov. Jeb Bush -- of Florida, who already has been lambasting Trump for comments about immigrants from Mexico, called Trump’s new remarks “slanderous.”

The Republican National Committee --, which normally does not make public criticisms of party candidates, also spoke out quickly.

“Senator McCain is an American hero because he served his country and sacrificed more than most can imagine. Period. There is no place in our party or our country for comments that disparage those who have served honorably,” said Sean Spicer, RNC chief strategist and communications director.

Trump sought afterward to limit his criticisms to McCain.

"Many people get captured. They are brave men because they are in the field,” he said. “I like the people who don't get captured, and I respect the people that do get captured."

He added, “If somebody is a prisoner I would consider that person a war hero, but we have a lot of war heroes that weren't prisoners also, and we should give them credit too."

He refused to back down on McCain.

“He is yet another all talk, no action politician who spends too much time on television and not enough time doing his job and helping the vets,” he said of McCain.

Trump also attacked McCain for saying his comments about Mexican immigrants was stirring up “crazies.”

“He was extremely disrespectful to the thousands upon thousands of people, many of whom happen to be his constituents, that came to listen to me speak about illegal immigration in Phoenix last week by calling them ‘crazies,’’’ Trump said.

“These were not ‘crazies.’ These were great American citizens.”

A lot of fake indignation and mad hypocrisy from these crackers. They had no problem talking shit about the service of John Kerry when he was running for office. They had this Swift Boat idiots talking mad shit about his time in the service and they were all on board with it. Now they are trying to pretend they really give a fuck about the military.:lol::lol:

So much of government affects business that you need somebody with an MBA and law degree to be President. Understanding what needs to be done, taking the initiative on certain government policy decision is what we need. We don't need another community activist lawyer or an actor.

Yep. Look at how this bitch is smiling proudly and making fun of America's fighting force. They all talk mad shit about how much they love America and the military. But foxnoise created entire programs to mock the service of a soldier that went to Vietnam, who was also injured in Vietnam, who continued to serve the nation as a U.S. senator and that was John Kerry. Fuck all of them.

Besides, this is just a sideshow. They get all of us talking about this bullshit for as long as they can keep it going. It eats up a lot of air time, while the talking heads on the left and right dissect, write stories and examine otherwise dumb ass cracker shit. That's their plan. To keep as much republican bullshit on the air as possible and that keeps Hillary and Bernie OUT off the air. Even NPR has gone to the right.

Trump takes issue with Megyn Kelly’s debate questions

RedState's Erik Erickson disinvited Trump from Conservative RedState Gathering after Trump's misogynistic comments against Fox News' Megyn Kelly

Donald Trump was supposed to be the keynote speaker at the RedState Gathering here, a convocation of the hard-core conservative activists who read the influential blog edited by Erick Erickson. But when Trump said on CNN late Friday that debate moderator and Fox News host Megyn Kelly had “blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever,” Erickson, who is a Fox News contributor, announced he had disinvited Trump from the conference. “There are just real lines of decency a person running for President should not cross,” Erickson wrote.

But while Erickson says Trump's sexism has no place in the GOP, Erickson is quite the misogynist, himself

:hmm: :hmm: :hmm:

BUT NOTE:

Molly Ball, for the Atlantic: The rise of Trump has given fodder to people to say, “See, Republicans are a bunch of hateful racists—this is what they want.” What does it say about the Republican Party that he’s doing so well?

Erik Erickson, for RedSate: The Republican Party created Donald Trump, because they made a lot of promises to their base and never kept them.

At this point, most of the people I encounter on radio and on the internet, they’re not really people who at the end of the day want to vote for Donald Trump. But they sure do like that he’s burning down the Republican Party that never listened to them to begin with.

Truce
They Need Him; He Needs Them

A truce has been struck between Donald Trump and Fox News, as both parties chose to avert a path that could have threatened the summer ratings blockbuster the real estate mogul’s presidential campaign has become.

On Monday morning, after 72 hours on the brink, Fox News chairman and CEO Roger Ailes called Trump to assure him that he would be treated fairly by the network. And Trump, who according to a source with knowledge of the situation, had threatened to boycott Fox News altogether, agreed to appear on “Fox & Friends” and “Hannity.”

“Fox & Friends” and “Hannity” aren’t the next battlefields, they’re the reinstatement of normal relations. Trump gains back his Fox spotlight, while Ailes maintains his rights to the show and its revenues. A re-staging of the original battle — say, a one-on-one sit-down interview of Trump by Megyn Kelly — is, at least, deferred.

Politically, it means little — Stuart Stevens, a top adviser to Mitt Romney’s 2012 campaign, notes that we’re still in the “phony war stage” of the 2016 contest, with nearly six months to go until the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primary. But from an entertainment perspective, there is all to play for: 24 million people watched Thursday night’s Republican primary debate, making it the most-watched non-sports telecast in the history of cable television. Fox News needs Trump; and Trump, with his desire to prolong the summer tour into the fall, needs Fox and its audience of loyal conservatives.

Donald Trump wants ‘to put H&R Block out of business’

Donald Trump said he wants H&R Block to go out of business.

What a blockhead.

Donald Trump wants to see H&R Block go out of business — effectively putting 80,000 Americans out of work.

The 2016 presidential hopeful — who in June dubbed himself the "greatest jobs President that God has ever created" — slammed the nation’s tax system on CNN Tuesday, saying it is so complicated that Americans need professionals to help them fill out their tax returns.

That’s when H&R Block, one of the nation's largest tax preparation companies, became the target of Trump’s frustration.

WOMEN LIVE-TWEET THEIR PERIODS TO DONALD TRUMP

“I want to put H&R Block out of business,” he declared, arguing that if elected President he’d simplify taxation in America. When CNN host Chris Cuomo asked how the bombastic billionaire would fix the system, Trump gave only a vague solution.

“By using intelligence. Using common sense,” the presidential hopeful barked. “I know exactly what I want to do. I just don’t want to announce it yet.”

H&R Block has more than 80,000 employees staffing about 12,000 franchise locations in all 50 U.S. states. The company did not immediately return the Daily News’ request for comment.

Trump has built his presidential campaign on a promise to encourage job growth.

WAYNE BARRETT: TRUMP'S MEGYN KELLY COMMENTS SMALL SAMPLE OF UGLY HISTORY

“I will be the greatest jobs President that God has ever created,” he said when he announced his candidacy in June.

The H&R Block comment was just one of many gaffes during Trump’s long-winded Tuesday interview on CNN.

During the tense 30-minute conversation, Trump spouted his opinions on ISIS, Planned Parenthood, the department of Veterans Affairs, and other issues. But the Republican presidential candidate refused to reveal how he would fix any of America’s problems.

The businessman-turned-politician continuously avoided Cuomo’s questions, instead promising end-goals instead of outlining the steps he’d take to reach those objectives.

H&R Block, the tax prep company with a bow-tied spokesman, employs about 80,000 Americans.

Trump was especially vague in detailing his plans for the Middle East. He emphasized a need to be aggressive with ISIS and other terror groups.

“I would take the oil away. I would take their money away,” he said, offering no details on military policy.

When Cuomo asked if his strategy included troops on the ground, Trump conceded that we would need soldiers “to protect the oil.” In an earlier Tuesday interview with Fox News, Trump claimed he “didn’t want to go there in the first place,” referring to military involvement in the Middle East.

The tensest moments between Cuomo and Trump came when the candidate brought up his stances on women’s rights.

DONALD TRUMP SLAMS PRESIDENT OBAMA FOR NEGLECTING BLACKS

After Trump repeatedly declared he “would be good to women” and “cherish women” — lines he used verbatim in a host of Sunday interviews — Cuomo asked if Trump would be willing to pass equal pay legislation.

Trump refused to give a hard yes or no, and instead said he was considering the issue. He would “have a position on it in the not-too-distant future,” he said.
Anderson Cooper was left stunned when Donald Trump berated the CNN anchor for continuing to address polls that shed the Republican presidential candidate in a negative light. "I am leading across the board," Trump said in the interview. "And then you hit me with this poll that I didn't see before, where oh, gee, it's not even that kind of a poll. All i know is I have a very big group of support. And I think one of the reasons. Let me tell you. The people don't trust you and the people don't trust the media. And I understand why," Trump barked at Cooper.

Donald Trump's public feuds

Then, he stressed that he paid women in his companies well.

As the billionaire went on about some of the high-earning women who have led his businesses, Cuomo asked if those female employees were paid as highly as their male counterparts. Trump ignored the question and kept talking.

The host repeated his question three more times before Trump finally offered an answer.

CLINTON: GOP'S VIEWS ON WOMEN 'OUTRAGEOUS,' NOT JUST TRUMP'S

“Yes, I do, absolutely,” he said. “In many cases, I pay the women more.”

After the chronic question-dodging, Cuomo suggested Trump release those figures to prove the claim.

While discussing women’s rights, Trump called Planned Parenthood “an abortion factory.” But he said he wasn’t sure defunding it was the right solution.

Trump ignored some of CNN host Chris Cuomo's questions.

“I would look at the good aspects first,” he said. “I’m sure they do something good and properly and good for women.”

Then he maintained that the group’s abortion practices needed to be defunded.

EDITORIAL: TOO MUCH OF A BOOR

Near the end of the interview, Trump brought up the VA backlog, claiming veterans sometimes wait days for medical care. Cuomo twice asked what a President Trump would do about it.

Trump ignored the question both times.

A flustered Trump made things personal and brought Cuomo’s mom into the sparring interview. The billionaire pointed out that both of their Queens-based moms knew each other from the neighborhood.

“My mother loved your mother,” Trump snarled. “They went to the same beauty parlor.”

Cuomo then mentioned that many people might consider Trump a whiner since he complains without offering true solutions.

“I do whine because I want to win,” Trump fired back. “I’ll keep whining and whining until I win.”

A 13-year-old just told Donald Trump he's 'embarrassing' the nation in 'Dear Mr. Trump' song
It's not every day you see a 13-year-old chiming in on political issues, but Donald Trump has made one teenager speak out in song. Molly Bergman, an aspiring singer/songwriter, wrote a song for the presidential candidate titled "Dear Mr. Trump" to give him a piece of her mind.

As Bergman sweetly strums her guitar, she opens with the first line and immediately packs a punch. "Dear Mr. Trump, stop being such a chump," she sings. And that's only the beginning.
She continues by telling Trump "you're embarrassing the nation" and "you don't explain positions fully, your first instinct is to bully" -- all while particularly unattractive pictures of Trump loop one after the other. Trump has always been known to have no filter, but Bergman clearly doesn't appreciate it, singing, "you're a bit of a disgrace, time to pull out of the race."

GOP Debate: Donald Trump Doubles Down on Mexico Comments, Mocks Rosie O'Donnell

Unfortunately for Bergman, that doesn't seem to be happening anytime soon -- Trump won the CNN Iowa poll on Aug. 12. But one lyric from the 1.5-minute song might have about half of America on board: "please apologize to women."

Considering Bergman is still five years away from legally voting, maybe "Dear Mr. Trump" will inspire someone who can put in a no-Trump vote for her in 2016.

Listen to the song below.
