Hey fam, I'm starting my journey into a possible Trucking O/O (Hiring Driver to operate my Own truck) or Broker Operations type business. Tryna create a new source of passive income and wanted to see if any of the OG's have knowledge or if anyone else is interested in this kinda path. Covid Era got me looking into coming up while this chaos is going on.

So far I picked up the Hood Estates Trucking Master Class 1.0 & 2.0 from their IG (I'll try to post with help if needed if any Brotha's are interested in the courses)

But Im also looking at the Freight Broker side of things too, and trying to decide on which path to take before I invest fully.

Anybody on the board into the Trucking or Freight Brokering world? Totally new world for me...

It’s new to me too fam. I’m in my beginning stages myself. I have 2 of my homeboys who have been in the business for the last 3 years, who are guiding me through the process. I was interested in that Hood Estates class. I’ve seen it a few times on my IG feed.

I got the classes, Im trying to figure out how to post them to the board to share with the Fam.

You got in info on any of it Fam or Resources?

Naw, that's not my thing so I don't have any details. One guy didn't do to well because the company he was trying to do runs for was on a buddy system and. Was not giving him many runs. The other guy he just got started.

Basically their model:
Buy a truck

Hire a driver

Set up them up with a solid Third Party Logistics Company (3PL) to run loads under their authority.

Split the $ every week either 60/40 or 50/50 with your driver.

Fuck splitting buy truck and run it yourself to get the experience and keep on the money..

I was tryna go the passive route/investor route if I get the truck. But I feel you I don't like not knowing an aspect of a business I'm in, so I would be more comfortable knowing how to drive the Rig

I’m a OTR driver.

Getting into the Brokerage part of it is a good investment.

But the thing is you need to have some knowledge of the trucking side to fully understand what the job entails.

You need to fully understand FMSCA rules and regulations pertaining to truck drivers. And have a understanding of the equipment.

Going into blind will set you up for failure.

Similar to going into the restaurant franchise and you have no idea of how to run a restaurant. Franchises like McDonalds will have you go in as a employee then Assistant Manager to learn basic restaurant operations before handing you the keys to a fully operational franchise.

If you have any land near a truck stop it's a gold mind for truck parking

Funny, I have met many truckers in the past month and they are all doing well. One of them looks like a slightly older girl than the girl in the picture above this post. I shit you not. She has been to my office twice in one month.

Since 2017, truck driving is the number one occupation in 29 states.

It’s one of the last American blue collar professions that pay a living wage and cannot be outsourced to foreigners, because of strict standards to get the license and endorsements.

The CDL is attached to Dept Of Homeland Security, Dept of Transportation.

Some endorsements require a FBI background check.

You also have to be fluent in English.

The CDL written exam at DMV is English only.

Yeah its money to be made in that field. But it also depends on what your trying to do. My brother works for FedEx and drives them doubles.. home every night off weekends and makes over a 100,000...my best friend hauls sugar dry and sometimes liquid and hes home mostly every day as well, but he works weekends makes 90+ and guaranteed 1300$ a week if there is not enough work for the week..brother been driving for maybe 15 yrs and my best bud been driving now for about 4/5 yrs...
