Troy Smith To Baltimore

Probably the best possible place for him. McNair will have this kid ready to take his spot in 2 years.

They will still place Kyle Boller over Troy Smith.... So he will probably be a career back up now.

The only knock on him right now is his size, but I think he is really going to suprise people in Baltimore. You know they love to run the ball so if you can get him some time on playaction and get him some bootlegs or something I think he's gonna kill 'em. Just watch homey. McNair has got a year or two left then you gonna see what I am talking about.

I think this is a good move for both. It is low risk, he will get the reps and he isn't expected to rescue a team. He can learn the system behind McNair for 2-3 years and have the chance to possibly be the man afterwards if he can get a hold on the mechanics and learn to throw from the pocket and not be as erratic as she showed that he was in the Senior Bowl and the combine.

Now, for folks that have seen him for the past few years as I have living in and being a fan of THE Ohio State University, we know or believe he was pressing a it bit to be perhaps too perfect and it hurt him. Anyone who saw him come back against Michigan 2 years ago when he had to drive the length of the field to win (and when the Woverines switched from man-to-man to zone and back) knows that he will become a great quarterback because he has it...it just needs to be molded.

Good pick, I just hope he doesn't come back and burn the Browns twice a year.

The way the media destroys black QBs is disgusting.

"He had a bad game against Florida"..

Who the fuck would have had a good game against Florida's D that night? Those DEs were on a mission.

Plus, why didn't Chris Leak's good game raise his draft status?
Did anyone see Brady Quinn against Michigan? Oh yeah, that shyt don't count.

I am really pulling for Troy to develop under McNair & do his thang.

Did they destroy Jamarcus Russell?

Best believe if JaMarcus had a bad game vs Notre Dame, they would have tried to destroy him too. He sure as hell wouldn't have been the first overall pick.

Did they destroy Troy Smith? He went from best player in the country to the 5th round?

Did they ignore Brady Quinn having bad/average games versus good competition?? ( Michigan, USC, LSU ) Why didn't Brady Quinn drop to the 5th round based on having bad/average games versus good comp?

Did they hype up Drew Stanton to a 2nd round pick while Leak has gone undrafted?

I feel you for the most part. But here's my two cent on the whole thing.

Troy Smith was borderline because of his height anyway. By them bad mouthing him after that loss he probably moved from early 3rd round to late 5th at best. What that Florida game showed up is what Troy Smith would look like under NFL speed. Best believe most of that defense is going to the NFL. Especially the ones that were giving Troy hell that night. He's great with protection and throwing lanes. He got a little rattled with the speed and pressure. Give him two years to get used to it and he'll be the NFL's worst nightmare for the teams that passed on him.

gotta cosign

Now hopefully he can immediately impress the coaches enough from now thru preseason to earn the 2nd QB spot over Boller...they still have Boller right?!?!?

mayne i wanted to land him in the n.o. , behind Brees and then take it over in a few, two heisman winner's in the same back field nice but o'well

this the other place that I felt good bout fa him

Height is another BS argument tho. I didn't stop Drew Brees from being taken in the 2nd rd. How is Drew Brees working out btw? His height doesn't seem to be an issue.

What that game versus Florida showed is what we saw with Brady Quinn vs. Michigan. Hell, we even saw that with Peyton Manning vs. the Patriots in the playoffs prior to this year. Rich Gannon vs the Bucs in the SB, etc. No QB is superhuman. No blocking & a pass rush = QB is shook, period. Not just Troy Smith, that shyt goes for all QBs.

To be honest, I don't know how good Troy will turn out. We all know for a QB to be good at the next level, a lot has to go right in their development. Troy could be good, average or he could be out of the league in a few years. However, that' irrelevant because teams don't know for certain either in spite of what they think. (Shyt, Tom Brady went in the 6th round!!) Based on what we saw this season, NOTHING justifies Quinn going in the first, Stanton in the 2nd, Smith in the 5th, & Leak going undrafted.

Remember I'm still with you homeboi. Hell ESPN did as much to get Quinn drafted as anybody. From pick #3 to pick #22 (or 24 whenever the hell he got drafted) that's ALL they talked about.

Adrian Peterson goes to Minnesota. Oh but look at Quinn sitting over there. I can't believe he hasn't been picked yet. He's #1 on my board. Mine too. Let's show some film on him.

Okoye the 19 year old just got picked. Wow. He's young. Ok, now back to Quinn. I mean look at this picture of him at 4 with the Browns jersey on. I can't believe Miami passed on this guy. Damn it.

We just had another pick fellas. Buffalo picked...somebody who was not Brady Quinn...Anybody got that high school footage of Quinn when he was reading defense at 16. The kid is a natural.

I think Cleveland just picked him so Chris Berman and Mel Kiper would just shut the fuck up.

Oh, I'm not beefin w/ you homey. Just sayin my piece.

I get so sick of the fuckin media bullshyt..

VY shut them bitches up tho!!!

A good spot for Troy. It'll give him a chance to learn. I don't think he'll be a great NFL QB, but there's no reason to believe he can't become a solid starter for the right team.

I totally agree. Perfect spot for him. Does anyone know if Chris Leak got drafted?

He'll more than likely not be on any nfl roster this year. Isn't the nickname for the spot he got drafted in called Mr. irrelevant?

I know he's not quite Mr. irrelevant but damn, he fell far.

But at the same time you seem to forget that after the 3rd pick he and A.P. were supposedly "falling" and shit seemed unsure, every pick after 3 they showed AP AND Quinn. Those guys were marquee in draft promotion along with Russell and Johnson so when they didnt go top 5 that shit was the story.

Far as Troy Smith man please stop trying to make it race. Troy doesnt project well in the NFL with scouts. And yes Florida did single-handedly drop his stock. And to dude that said he went from best player to bum? Nah man that Heisman doesnt mean shit. Danny Weurfell and Gino Toretta were also "Best player in college" at one time. Russell didnt go first because he had the better season he went first because of his skill set and size.

Yall saying this like that game DIDNT destroy Brady Quinn.. ESPN may not have portrayed it but his draft spot did. LSU D showed his inaccuracy and once again he didnt show up in the big game. Smith at best will have a Kordell Stewart type of career, not the slash thing but QB wise. And far as Chris Leak...man if you a QB that cant even play every college down.... I'll leave it at that.

You dont know what in the world you're talking about do you? Troy Smith will make the squad as the #3 QB, and Mr. Irrelevant is the LAST PICK IN THE DRAFT.
