George Zimmerman messed up in a couple of ways and was extremely negligient in his actions:

1. He had his weapon hidden and was not wearing a uniform based on the video to notify Trayvon that he was security or police. He did not have his weapon visible in a holster on the side like police. Informing the other person that deadly force is present could change their decision to attack or defend themselves against you.

2. George Zimmerman should have announced immediately, Stop, I am community watch, I have lethal force. This would have informed Trayvon that he was not being robbed or attacked; and that the other person had deadly force. Don't wait until somebody has you on the ground and is beating your ass to pull your weapon out at the last resort.

3. Trayvon could have felt that he was being attacked or robbed and fought for his life. George Zimmerman did not make it easy to determine.

4. George Zimmerman should have had training in non-lethal force like police. The concealed training class should have provided that training. Instead it is about shooting a gun and gun shooting accuracy. Non-lethal force should be discussed with lethal force; applicants for a concealed permit should have proficiency in both. Especially in states with strict laws regarding the use of deadly force.

You can immediately disable that person with mace or a taser, prevent them from charging you and taking your weapon. That person has a legitimate right to attack if you are not police and stand their ground.

5. If you approach somebody that does not have a weapon and they decide to attack/defend, you should attempt to use non-lethal; especially if you are community watch, with no uniform and no visible weapon.

6. Gun manufacturers could easily integrate them into guns for home defense. Non-lethal can buy you time to decide whether you need to use deadly force. You see somebody in your house, you can immediately mace or daze with light, than switch to lethal force after you announce it to the perp.

Somebody screaming for help does not sound like that person is beating somebody's ass. People can say what they want to, but that kid was hunted. And I would not be surprised if he was shot in the back.
Somebody else was involved in that also. While Zimmerman was on the phone with the 911 operator you can hear him knock on someone door. And you can hear him whispering to that person. I know he does not want to tell who that person is.

That's because MOST people that are into guns own them with dreams of shooting people. Particularly whites! Every job I've had I have been the only black. In my field 90% talk about guns and shooting perceived perps. They boldly in my presence identify perps as being non whites and/or whites that take on a "non white" life style. It makes continuing to do the things I want to do and like difficult and extremely trying outside of actually just doing them. Really sick of it actually.

The police and some security are trained in using non-lethal force and assessing threat levels. They could have come onto the scene and used mace or pulled out a tazer.

Police/Security have sirens, uniforms, and guns in a holster that lets the other person know that deadly force is present. This could change somebody decision to attack or defend themselves against you.

I bet none of this was explained, he shot at some paper a couple of times at some gun range and felt he was police.
