Ok, heres the deal. I want to help plan my girls vacation next summer with two of her cousins, my female cousin, and her two friends. They've never been outside of the US and would really like to go to someones beach. They were thinking Ocho Rios or Negril. I have absolutely no idea where to start. Should I get a travel agent? Are there legitimate deals on the internet to be had? Someone point me in the right direction.

Here are some more conciderations:

I/They think its best to find something all inclusive. Yay or Nay?

I/They would like to go somewhere "black" friendly.

I/They would like to go somewhere 5-7days.

They think they would probaly like to go somewhere in the Caribbean, I agreed, but I also told them to consider places in Mexico(Gulf)...Cabo maybe??:dunno:

I would like to keep this under $2,000. (note: I'm only paying for my chick) I assume group rates would lesson the overall cost.

Help me out Ladies and Gents. Where have you been? How did you get there? How much was it? And what do you suggest? Thanks,

The easiest and simplest way to do this is book a cruise.. Call Royal Caribbean and set them up on a southern Caribbean cruise.. They can see a few islands.. if they like one or more they can then plan trips to those islands at later dates...

when i planned my cruise with RC my friends Mom is a travel agent with them, so we got a few upgrades! which were dope...

I am a bit tired and cannot think, but will try to help you . . . Damned Database Errors :angry::angry:

I agree all-inclusive is easier, no worries about tracking money to pay for food, drinks, tips, etc.

I would think that the Caribbean islands and Mexico are "black" friendly. The only color they care about on the islands is green.

The Summer will be a bit more expensive, but you should be able to find deals for under 2Gs.

I have not been to any of the islands (apart from a cruise) myself, but it may be a good start to check out online sites such as Expedia, Travelocity, and sites specific to where you are traveling (Negril, Club Med, specific islands, etc) and see what are the trend in prices. Then go to a travel agent armed with the knowledge and tell the agent you would them to set up a group trip (which should be cheaper).

If possible, I would have the agent set up a payment plan with the group individually, so that if someone does not pay on time -- THEY DO NOT GO. Do not have one person stuck with the burden of paying and then trying to get the money back from the cheapskates.

Having recently been to Jamaica I have to suggest that... depending on where you are going from you can get an all inclusive for between 900-1500 to a four or five star hotel there... all inclusive is the way to go for sure...

Virginia Beach

Just kidding. A package deal to San Diego would get them all 1 week. To the Caribbean that would only cover the hotel. Flights will be a grip.

^^^Thanks sis. How long were you on the boat? How much? Would you mind referring that travel agent?

I did a 7 day cruise.. left from Port Canaveral in FL.. went to ochos rios, grand cayman, labadee haiti, and cozumel, Mexico.. good times..

And this is crazy, but the ppl who work on the boat love when sistas come on board... We got cool with one of the bartenders and didn't pay for drinks not one night! LOL..

I'll pm you with the travel agent info

try to avoid travel agents with internet sites like expedia travelocity and orbitz you can do all the work that you are paying a travel agent to do on your own.

Cool, I just came back from Puerta Vallarta Mexico in Sept. stayed for a week and it was $1500 for my So and me. We stayed at the RIU an all-inclusive resort. I loved every minute of it! I love all-inclusives because you can really relax and kick back -everything is paid for down to the alcohol! We booked our trip through Expedia and got a pretty good deal.

Before that I went on a cruise to the Bahamas on Carnival Cruise lines left from Miami (stayed there for a few days and the cruise was on the weekend) I liked it but my tummy didn't but the boat was nice....

We are going on another cruise to the Bamahas in Dec. but this time on Norweign and we booked both of these crusies through www.vacationstogo.com. It was $200 and some change for a week trip going to several spots in the Bahamas.

Vacationstogo was real professional and made the process real smooth!!

I would suggest doing it yourself - read reviews of different hotels at www.hotels.com, expedia.com. But I noticed that you are going with several people so a travel agent would be a good way to go...

Good luck...

I went with sunquest I believe it was... I paid 1400 when i went, however we had a travel agent and all that shit... it was for a friends wedding so we had to book long time in advance.. came back 2 weeks later and saw the exact same 7 day trip for 900 bucks... i stayed at the holiday inn sunspree and i found it fine for the group I went with...
