Does any1 have any inside info on owning a towing business? How do u secure accounts and where does the bulk of the income come from? Thanx.
 
I served a short stint at the largest impound business in our city. But that was only a small part of the revenue. The real money was made with our sister business (same location) that did recovery, or as it's commonly known - [size=-1]Repossession. All day long, people coming to claim their vehichles after they've settled up with their finance company and the finance company would send us a release. Or else, we keep them joints and make a nice bounty from the finance company for recovering their property. Back on the impound side, this shit was funny as hell (I can laugh because they got me before I started working there... that's how I got the gig). People would park on private property we contract with would either try to stay there all night or maybe five minutes to run in somewhere. Our drivers would have their whips back in our garage in no time. Then, either you come up with $225 for the first 8 hours and $8 every 12 hours there after or we keep ya shit and sell it at auction, which we also have a financial stake in. Or again, send it back to the finance company and get paid by them.
But the thing is... I think it's extremely hard to get licenced to do it. The towing board watches over you like a hawk. And I heard that our insurance was something like $150k!!! And that was just for the impound side.
