buy a new keyboard. they're dumb cheap. check online for your model number and there will be instructions on how to take the laptop apart.

word of warning, i got a fuckin satellite myself and its nothing but fucking problems with overheating and shit (some models are known for that). my touchpad and usb crap out intermittently. you may wanna check you're cpu and hd temp with a program like speedfan to make sure your'e not having the same issue.

good luck.

i have a 7 year old and a two year old satellite. both are top of the line models. i have had no issues besides having to replace a bad hard drive on the 7 year old one. but it was seven years old....

I dont doubt that you guys have good machines. But when I google my model number there's nothing but people complaining of the same problems. I have an A75 (3ghz) and a lot of the A series joints have problems with overheating....

I am typing this on a p105-s9339 I bought almost three years ago. 2G core2 duo, 2gig ram, 200gig HD, 17" 1440x900 resolution, Vista ultimate...GREAT machine. Still performs well.

I don't know about anyone else...but it sounds like the security software is somehow kicking in. You stated that it has a fingerprint security...it could be somewhere in the bios of the machine. You might have to erase the hd completely and when re-installing the OS...go to the toshiba website and re-download the drivers (including the fingerprint software) so that it may overwrite the one on the machine.

Toshiba's are great machines but you have to note that it is still part of technology in today's world. Meaning some will not perform like others...you can call toshiba up and tell them you are a small repair store and need assistance with that machine...to get a little more info on it (Usually, people don't register their machines so it being reported stolen is harder to locate or resolve which means you have better chances of not having any backlash from it).

Just to assist you, I called Toshiba. They stated that it might be something in the BIOS...and to try to replace the bios....using an external keyboard and mouse. If that doesn't work then the motherboard may have to be replaced.
I will PM you the rest of the info.

if ur KB started to not respond, id check the ribbon to make sure it still nice and tight. a loose ribbon cable will definetly stir up some trouble.

so i called the peopl @ toshiba.... ended up on the phone wit a dude from india.... these mfofs wanted my name phn #, address, gave fake name & numbe.... i give him the serial #...... and he tells me im still under warranty and tells me where i can send it to be fixed..... one of the spotes in the atl is the same place i used to take my first lt........ i kept asking dude for exact information related to the problem.... he tried to talk around what i asked...... so i kept on asking........ in the process of me talkin around and over him in a nice voice.... he told me that they would just reformat the hard drve....but that still didnt tell me anything aout the problem, so it eventually got to the point where i asked to speak to his manager, since he obviously couldnt tell me ANYTHING about the problem that i called for,,,,,, total waste of time........ i changed the keyboard seting in the bios and it worked perfect for a few hours... and now its back to doing the same thing again....:smh:
