Top 10 Most Powerful Black Male Characters in Film

"Clubber Lang" and "Candyman" (among others) are neither "superheroes" nor "heroic." Even Morgan Freeman's God and president are cheap caricatures. He really didn't follow his own premise, as he's clearly severely limited in his "powerful" criteria and/or black film knowledge. He just went with a very superficial, POP definition of "heroic," and an extremely inconsistent one at that.

okay...turn that high powered sense of cinematic perception on yourself and give us YOUR to 10 most powerful black characters

“When we judge or criticize another person, it says nothing about that person; it merely says something about our own need to be critical.”

Ummm, the critique is of a mediocre film and an annoying performance, not the "person" (obviously).

Haven't you read this thread? My points-of-reference for "powerful black characters" (with examples) are made abundantly clear.

X was prob Denzel best movie by far....IMO i think Will Smith is just as good as Denzel if not better nowadays.

hes not being paid 30+ mil for nothing.

it may be like this...Denzel = Jordan Will Smith = Kobe agrees?
Actually I agree. Will Smith has grown as an actor and I think he could have done X as well. He's an all around good actor and he can make you laugh.

pick your poison:

Morgan Freeman
Denzel Washington
Will Smith
Don Cheadle
James Earl Jones
Lawrence Fishburne
Danny Glover
Wesley Snipes
Sidney Potier
Forest Whitaker
Samuel L. Jackson
Jamie Foxx

Damn if you're gonna list Wesley Snipes list New Jack City as Nino Brown, that was his best role.

My top 10 would be:
Julius Carry as SHO'NUFF in The Last Dragon
Sho'nuff: Am I the meanest?
Sho'nuff 's Goons: Sho'nuff!

Sho'nuff 's Goons: Sho'nuff!

Sho'nuff 's Goons: Sho'nuff!
Sho'nuff: Well who am I?
Sho'nuff 's Goons: Sho'nuff!
Sho'nuff: Who am I?
Sho'nuff 's Goons: Sho'nuff!
Sho'nuff: I can't hear you...
Sho'nuff 's Goons: Sho'nuff!

Denzel as Alonzo Harris in Training Day.

Wesley Snipes as Nino Brown in New Jack City, the "American Gangster" of 1991. Nino Brown <=> Frank Lucas.

Frank Lucas(Denzel again) in American Gangster, that was just a badass role/movie.

Robert Townsend in Meteor Man, showed us how a black superhero truly shines in a neighborhood that really needs him.

Don Cheadle as Paul Rusesabagina in Hotel Rwanda, playing such an important role that showed how it was during the Rwandan genocide.

James Earl Jones as Darth Vader.

Richard Roundtree as Shaft.

Jamie Foxx as Ray Charles.

Samuel Jackson as Jules in Pulp Fiction, he was my favorite character in the movie.
