Top 10 Disappointments of "New-Gen" Gaming

I take it you never played a Bioware game before. Graphics could have been better but it stayed in my 360 for months. Gotta go back and play with my 4 characters on the hardest difficulty just to get ready for the second one. To each his own I guess.

No doubt, I played the SHIT out of Mass Effect, the only complaint I have about the game is the fact that the side quest could have been done a lot better. Aside from that I beat the game at least 4 times.

I'm putting off my final Insanity/last 2 ally playthrough until just before part 2 comes out.

Yes, the shitty combat where every shooter mechanic was flawed. Idiotic A.I on BOTH sides. Boring navigation of this planet where 3/4ths of the planets couldn't be visited. Boring cities, supposedly housing millions of people of different species, but all I see are like, 25 people standing arount. Repetitive planets, all barren and empty, just a different color. Repetitive "dungeons" or whatever you wanna call em.

Boring as side quest. You can't hide the fact that underneath, all of them are the same ass go fetch quest. z

These are game that i've played that I felt were dissapointments

1. Unreal Tournament 3 - easily the worst installment in the entire series. Hardly looks, feels, plays like any other unreal tournament game. The gameplay is so unfamiliar. It's like they didn't even listen to their community, they simply went off gears of war's popularity and made their own game. More players still play Unreal Tournament 99 than this.

2. Super Smash Bros. Brawl - This game being good depends on multiplayer, period. It's good when playing with friends but it's pathetic how bad the online is. If this game had been on Xbox with xbox live it would be a 5* game. It isn't, the game fails.

3. Quake 4- same boat as UT. Didn't listen to the community, flopped with the exception of a handful of competitive players.

4. Motorstorm - I had more fun playing the demo than the full game. It was cool playing it online for about 20 minutes. There went 60 dollars.

5. Gran Turismo 5: Prologue - The online for this game sucks miserably. The offline portion isn't remotely worth 40 $.

6. Madden 08 - This is the kind of game that's basically only good if you enjoy sports games. Stand alone the ps3 version looks and runs like crap. Gameplay is once again the same thing. However, I didn't expect anything nexgen in that department.

7. Need for speed pro street - fuck this game sucks

8. Burnout paradise - game feels completely changed and nothing like a burnout game. Boring fast

9. Haze - usually when you have crap gameplay there's graphics to make up for it and vice versa. Not for haze. Just a bad generic shooter.

Mario Kart is that shit.

If you are in first place during the final lap you do get fucked up though. :hmm:

I want to hurt someone everytime that happens. I haven't played mario kart in a long time so I wasn't that familiar with it. But for god sakes, you can be easily winning the race on the final lap with no one in clear sight and get completely fucked over by powerups.

Game trailers are very, very, very deceiving. I fucked up and bought Spiderman 3 like a dick.

Heavenly Sword (PS3)

Need for Speed Pro Street (PS3 & Xbox360)
This was some bullshit! I really liked Most Wanted and Carbon. The annoying ass DJ, the rave-theme events were just too different and didn't flow with the rest of the series. Man I'm not going to even speak about the speed challenge races where if you move just a little off the road you wreck and total!

The only good races were the Drag races and Wheelie races, but even then the glitch would sometime make your car uncontrollable and wreck

What????

The graphics are the last thing anyone should complain about. Anyone who claims it looks like a ps2 is either needs glasses, is lying, or hasn't played the game at all.

Now This is an example of prettier ps2 graphics.

As far as loading times go, I put 70 hours into the game, and not once did I feel I was waiting too long to start playing.

my comment isnt that it looks like a ps2, but that it didnt offer that much outside of an old ps2 jrpg gameplay wise. aside from being better looking.

my comments are completely based on reviews and user community threads.

i still play UT3(PC version) every now and again..they couldve did w/o that pointless "single player story mode" mess..took out Assault mode in order to
make that lame"Warfare" gameplay

as for Burnout Paradise it sure doesnt feel like,say,Revenge..taking out the
Crash game mode and not letting you pause and restart a race was stupid IMO

My bad, I've never seen someone use "prettier" to describe something like gameplay.

Square Enix's Lost Odyssey rip off i assume..?

and what was with all the SFII/Power Rangers shouting of the battle moves.."Spinning LEAF!!!!" "Arching BOOTS!!" etc

I know right, the voice acting was pretty bad too. I wouldn't call it a rip off though. The graphics are pretty bad, but I'll have to give Tri-Ace the benefit of the doubt on the story since that's the only thing I really care about when it comes to JRPG's.

hard to call them rip offs though when they are from former square enix staff.. it will take a few games before they break off into their own thing.

true true poor choice of words on my part

What didn't you like about Heavenly Sword? I enjoyed the story, characters, and the fighting.

i loved heavenly sword. the only complaint. too short.

on the hardest level it takes longer but its still a short game. the next one maybe a prequel since the story is really about the sword and not the characters ....

Oblivion wasn't generic. Oblivion is the shit, puts most jrpg's to shame. There really aren't that many rpg's on the 360 though.

But most jrpg's are pretty generic. How many times do I have to play as the spikey haired 15 year old, who is just a regular person, and whether they live in an ancient world, or a futuristic world, is walking around with a sword that he can apparently kick ass with, and he has to defeat the ultimate evil.

The majority of what you're complaining about sounds like they were just expectations that you set too high. The combat was fine to me. I do agree about the side quests though, apart from maybe one. By the way, aren't you the same person that was shitting all over Knights of the Old Republic and Jade Empire?

They need to put Mass Effect on that list.

i agree. i played the first mission then took it back to blockbuster.

I'm adding a few.

Heavenly Sword

Non Nintendo Wii Games

i liked Heavenly sword, it was just too damn short

i haven't heard of a single good 3rd party game for the wii.

nobody mentioned Hour of Victory. Folks were calling it "hour of failure"

The only thing I could really say wasn't top notch about Mass Effect were those damned vehicle missions. They got old pretty fast.

Oblivion was severely dumbed down from morrowind, they took out Levitation spells, Necromancy, they took out skills, even the dialog was dumbed down.

What was the point of leveling up? You can beat Manimarco(one of the most powerful characters in ES lore) at level 1 with an iron dagger as all the Enemies and loot scale to your level, that was incredibly stupid choice for that type of game.

In a game like Fallout or even Morrowind you knew that if you go into the wrong area at the wrong level, you were going to get slaughtered, but if you made a character that was savy enough you could go into that area and come out with a cool weapon or armor. Oblivion doesn't have that sense of exploration.

Ok, I feel you on it being too short. I totally forgot about how short it was.

 and Assassin's Creed reminds me of this new Grand Theft Auto.Excellent graphics but It's the same missions over and over again. They focus on graphics a little too much.I need a fun game.

i liked assassin's creed even though it was predictable..... i hope the prequel/sequel is better.... it'll be kool to be a ninja.... they'll probably switch back and forth....:smh: gettin the bosses was mad cool but doin the same 4 things to get info was wack.... and once u master the sword ur pretty much unstoppable.....

kane and lynch....... they brought something new to the table with the multiplayer.... i hope gta makes that bank heist mission online.......

Agreed. The loading times may not be bad, they're just too frequent. Especially towards the end of the game when you can start town hopping. Overall the game did have its share of problems (some boring cut-scenes, boring/stiff character personalities ie Kaim,) but I enjoyed the game a lot. By no means was it a classic, but adding to that list seems a bit harsh.

That piece of shit Def Jam Icon takes up all 10 of my slots. Fight for NY was the shit, Icon is just feces.
