I only posted it because in this thread people were going back and forth about the genetic makeup of Australian aborigines.

I thought they had some African in their blood but some are stating they are considered Asian regardless of their skin color. If anyone has some information to share about that, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I do know that many of them consider themselves "Black" and some even identify with Black American culture and ideals.

Anyway just thought I'd share because I thought this pic was striking.

Also reminded me of a great movie I saw about 6 months ago, Rabbit Proof Fence based on the story of 2 aborigine girls who were taken into "custody".

I don't think she is pure aborigine. One of the things that I learned after watching Rabbit Proof Fence was that even though the whites seemed to have pure disdain for aborigines, they went after the women with the quickness.

According to that thread, race mixing (mostly involuntary), disease and poverty has pretty much wiped them out.

Here's the thing, genetically Africans from any part of Africa share a closer genetic makeup Anglo-Saxon European Caucasians than Aborigines from Australia do to Africans, as well as most Pacific Islanders. Aborigines tend to share a lot of genetic similarities to New Zealanders, the original ones, which makes a lot of sense since the location of the islands to the continent of Australia.

The Nationalism or Black pride from Aborigines comes from them being lumped in with other people of darker skin, like Africans and some Arabs and some Asians as well. Got to remember the "one drop" theory of racist white folks.

I often wonder how the hell they thought that a continent/country would work by being populated by convicts and felons that were let go from the prisons over in Europe, especially White bigoted people, so it's no surprise that they were racist and cruel to the native Aborigines. Actually that's what aborigine means, first people or native. Australian Aborigines are properly called Indigenous Australians ( I know, big difference! ).

I remember my soccer coach in Cali was an Indigenous Australian and he use to tell us stories of the Dreamtime...cool stuff.

I wish I had more time to gather some of the articles I've read on the subject, debate concerning a single wave migration or multiple waves from Africa.

It's been proven, their DNA is fairly isolated, and not influenced as other Indian Ocean/Eurasian peoples. But an yet, they share cultural, tribal similarities, words even, with the Lawoi, Thailanders.

Obviously their must have been contact, and in contact, perhaps interbreeding. Of course Eurocentrists will have you believe, nobody crosses bodies of water before the Spanish, and the only way people migrated were land bridges, walking.

That's why I appreciate people like Thor Heyerdahl, proving the Egyptians for one, were fully capable of crossing the Atlantic. An also his Kon Tiki Voyage in the Pacific, proving, purposeful exploration an cultural connections with South America to the Polynesian, ancient peoples we able to traverse the seas.



All an all Australian Aborigines have had it bad. According to the euro centric view of Evolution, Darwin had them below the Negroid, as the most primitive of homo sapian.

I didn't say the Australian apology made a difference or indicated any type of righteousness.
