It’s a Bud-wise-burger!

Carl’s Jr. and Hardee's are test-driving the perfect Fourth of July patty: the “Budweiser Brew House Bacon Cheeseburger,” which slathers the beef, applewood-smoked bacon and caramelized onions in two layers of something called “Budweiser Beer Cheese.”

What the grill? A spokesperson for the restaurants told The Daily News that the burger was inspired by the soft pretzels dipped in beer cheese served in sports bars.

Wreckless Eatingfood blogger Matt Zion saw the California fast-food Carl's Jr. chain advertising the buzzworthy burger on a sign with the Budweiser logo and everything, and couldn’t resist giving it a shot.

Alas, Zion says this isn’t the burger-and-beer combo we’ve been dreaming of.

Where’s the beer?! “There’s no beer taste or beer flavor to the cheese,” said the dissatisfied customer between bites. “It just tastes like a lot more cheese than usual. It’s just ‘the cheese show.’”

The Bud burger is the latest one of Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s buzzworthy bites, such as the Midnight Moonshine Burger (an Angus beef patty topped with something called a ‘moonshine glaze’) that debuted in March. The company tapped Hayden Panettiere to star in the sizzling spot pushing the moonshine sammie.

The Budweiser Brew House Bacon Cheeseburger is only available in select California and Ontario, Canada Carl's Jr. locations and at Hardee's in the Midwest for now at $5.29 for the one-third pound patty. The rest of us will just have to enjoy beer and barbecue the old-fashioned way this weekend.
