Thinking of buying a new car but need advice

Ok, first off i don't have bad credit but i don't have that much. I have $2,000 I would like to but down on a 2007 Monte Carlo. But I was just asking if anybody had any tips i could use to try and get a better deal or not have them ask me to put anymore money down? And also, what are some easy ways to get my credit score up besides getting a credit card?

Where are you buying? Different dealerships have different financing companies they work with.
