They brought back Dire Wolves.....

This shit was in Time Magazine, ABC World News Tonight, PBS Newshour, etc.....

The guest in the Joe Rogan video is Ben Lamm, the man behind Colossal Biosciences, the company that brought these "Dire Wolves" back from extinction.
Well, why not post the news from one of those sources? JR is questionable at best. Surely, you wouldn't get your financial info from a bum on the street just cuz he happened to be right.

This guy sounds like he's a hater, jealous of the announcement because he said it himself he's a paleontologist. Reminds me of Dr. Grant from Jurassic Park being upset about not needing to dig up dinosaur bones anymore.

Regardless of his thoughts, this is big news. The fact that they were able to recreate the gnome of an extincted animal and have a surrogate animal carry those to term and have these GMO'd wolves have the appearance and behavior of that extinct animal is groundbreaking.

...you're kidding??? Did you read the article you posted? The article doesn't have the word clone or any variation in it. It even opens with: "The company uses gene editing to modify the traits of existing animals to the point that their DNA becomes, essentially, that of lost animals."

Google this you're not gonna find any scientific publications talking about this for a reason!

"Scientists genetically engineer wolves with white hair and muscular jaws like the extinct dire wolf."
"Now, researchers have bred gray-wolf pups that carry genes of their ancient cousins."

"It's in a completely different genus to grey wolves," he said. "Colossal compared the genomes of the dire wolf and the grey wolf, and from about 19,000 genes, they determined that 20 changes in 14 genes gave them a dire wolf."
"A grey wolf is the closest living relative of a dire wolf - they're genetically really similar - so we targeted DNA sequences that lead to dire wolf traits and then edited grey wolf cells... then we cloned those cells and created our dire wolves."

They basically made GoBots!!! Grey wolves that they changed to LOOK like Dire wolves AREN'T Dire wolves. If I change the traits in my sperm to match me and then fertilize it with my wifes eggs, I didn't just clone myself.

Did I say they were clones? I said they were GMO'd

Regardless, this is still groundbreaking and impressive work.

Sorry on the THIRD PAGE of Google I found some publications talking about this:

So you didn't say "Brought back"? The article you posted talks about how they've returned from extinction like they cloned it. "recreate the gnome of an extincted animal" That's not what they did. They copied and pasted a couple traits out of BILLIONS.

Cool more apex predators that don’t have natural enemies in the wild to contain them.. so only time will allow them to grow, destroy ecosystems and than put humans on their menu to eat

Oh for fucks sake. You're like the Semantics King.

I'll put this in wrestling terms. Late last year, Cody Rhodes brought back the winged eagle championship belt.

Is that inaccurate to say since the belt wasn't dual plated like the original belt and it has the WWE logo and not the original WWF logo?

Or did Cody introduce a new variation of it that technically means the winged eagle wasn't brought back to WWE/F TV since the late 90s.

Again, you're kidding right??? So I got to be the Semantics King for shyt you say, but I post actual scientist commenting about this against your Peoples Magazine and Joe Rogan video just to give a different perspective. And you get your panties in a bunch, and why because someone disagreed? I didn't even reply to YOU. I was agreeing with/replying to someone else.

Semantics King, but YOU said: "recreate the gnome of an extincted animal". So in your kid ass terms technically Cody Rhodes (can't believe I am doing this shyt) brought back the Winged Eagle belt from the late 90s. So either you don't know what recreate means or what an animals gnome code consists of.

Like pythons in Florida. Just throw the whole ecosystem off. From what it sounds like these are only cosmetic, so that Apex predator from millions of years ago wasn't copied over, they might not even be able to breed. But like my man Malcolm said:

 I got my panties in a bunch.... meanwhile you're over here typing multiple paragraphs like I insulted someone close to you.

I already said, regardless of what they want to call it, the science is impressive.

Exactly.. also certain animals could have certain viruses.. who knows if these nigs got something that can spread to human or other organisms.. next thing we know we got a new old plague.. there’s a reason why nature made them extinct, maybe we need to listen to nature once again

Wonder what the women of extinct groups looked like.

All the folks wiped out by Ghengis Khan and dem.

I wouldn't worry too much about viruses, unless they have tech that can resurrect the actual animal that they are copying DNA from. Luckily that only exists in the movies. But there is so much in your genome code, just shyt that is turned off, be it Nature or Nurture that turned it off. Some things are best left where they died off at DUE TO NATURE. Now animals that we've hunted to extinction or due to humanities progress I am all for this technology helping repopulate that species.

These Dire wolves...nobody asked for them. Game of Thrones was over 5 years ago. They don't even have these wolves in the new show.

What's truly interesting...these are the mf'rz they raised half a bil. to bring back or..what Carpenter/Spielberg typa shit are they in process of reincarnating/already done that they're not so proud of. I'm thinkin Neanderthal sex slaves...
