Bryan Colangelo throws wife under the bus

Now former 76ers GM and president of basketball operations Bryan Colangelo is out to clear his name after being taken down in a burner Twitter account scandal.
In doing so, his wife’s name is being dragged.
An investigation done by a firm independent of the Sixers concluded that Colangelo’s wife, Barbara Bottini, had been operating multiple Twitter accounts that divulged team secrets and insulted multiple players. She admitted she was behind the accounts.
Colangelo resigned Thursday morning as a result, after The Ringer first had connected the accounts to him.
“While I am grateful that the independent investigation conducted by the 76ers has confirmed that I had no knowledge of or involvement in the Twitter activity conducted by my wife, I vigorously dispute the allegation that my conduct was in any way reckless,” Colangelo said in a statement. “At no point did I ever purposefully or directly share any sensitive, non-public, club-related information with her.”
Yet, she shared the information — much of which wasn’t even accurate, Colangelo said.
“Her actions were a seriously misguided effort to publicly defend and support me, and while I recognize how inappropriate these actions were, she acted independently and without my knowledge or consent,” he said. “Further, the content she shared was filled with inaccuracies and conjecture which in no way represent my own views or opinions. While this was obviously a mistake, we are a family and we will work through this together.”
A two-time Executive of the Year, Colangelo may now have a hard time finding work, despite this defense. It’s hard to imagine many teams will be jumping to hire him after such an incident.
