The Truth About "baby carrots"

The following is information from a farmer who grows and packages
carrots for the large supermarkets.

The small cocktail (baby) carrots you buy in small plastic bags are made
using the larger crooked or deformed carrots which are put through a
machine which cuts and shapes them into cocktail carrots . most people
probably know this already.

What you may not know and should know is the following: once the carrots
are cut and shaped into cocktail carrots they are dipped in a solution
of water and chlorine in order to preserve them (this is the same
chlorine used your pool/bleach clothing) since they do not have their skin or natural
protective covering, they give them a much higher dose of chlorine.
You will notice that once you keep these carrots in your refrigerator
for a few days, a white covering will form on the carrots, this is the
chlorine which resurfaces. At what cost do we put our health at risk to
have esthetically pleasing vegetables which are practically plastic?

We do hope that this information can be passed on to as many people as
possible in the hopes of informing them where these carrots come from
and how they are processed. Chlorine is a very well known carcinogen.
Please let us make this information available to as many people as
possible.

holly shit i just threw some of them out been in my fridge 4 a couple weeks and there was a bunch of white shit in the bag funny thing they was still orange good info

Bigirl the problems extend far beyond carrots. Most foods we purchase go through some sort of process to make them look more appealing. This is especially true of fruits. Pick a fruit from a tree, it's not shiny but get one from the supermarket and it almost glistens.

Good post.

buy organic locally grown produce yeah it will cost you more but it is better for you in the long run.

OMG...i LOVE baby carrots...i eat them like CANDY!!!!

and PLEASE don't mention Monsanto...i had to write a freakin paper on them before and link to a tree and globalization

:hmm:

Man baby carrots and hummus was my shit but as I am not a lazy amerikkkan I will just cut sticks from regular carrots again now.

The veggie wash is more for bacterial and microbial stuff and is highly effective for that.

Aren't you glad you know about Monsanto instead of not knowing? I have been stockpiling seeds for at least a decade already. If you haven't been, you should start now.

there are varying degrees of organic also. it pays to ask around to make
sure the seller's version of organic matches your version of organic.

well the good news is that california certified organic standards are really up to par. if i buy organic i only buy that.

I'm glad I live and eat relatively healthy. Now, I know about those carrots, never again, I tell you. I have to get myself some carrot seeds to plant my own...

Good post BG. Too much of the foods that we consumed is manipulated. Grow your own if you can.

I really hate that you just told me this 'cause those are the only ones I eat. However, good info and I will not be buying those again.

I can't wait to get my house so I can grow my own fruits and vegetables.

Please...

All of these fucking rumors. I'm so tired of hearing or reading bullshit.

If your carrots turn white in the fridge, I'm sure its mold, not fucking chlorine rising to the surface.

This sounds about as silly as that old school rumor about leaving pork out and worms coming out of the shit.

If you leave pork out, flies will get to it and lay eggs. The "worms" that come out are fly larvae.

If you close the windows so no flies can get into your home, I guarantee that the worm experiment will be unsuccessful.

SMDH.

Damn I feel like Im going to die, I eat 3 salads wrapped in Pita bread a day all of it is the premade bagged salads.

Bullshit. That shit is dipped in chlorinated water at ppm levels, even less than the concentration of chlorine in the water you drink. We should all have cancer in that case. Chlorine is anti bacterial you melodramatic fuck!
Plastic veggies? Da fuck? Shit don't even make sense. :hmm:

Fuckouttahere with this old wives tale shit.

*Takes off spectacles and throws them at you*
