Just when the Mets were getting ready to tell all New York that there product was as good as their crosstown rivals, but cost a lot less, they learn that the till is light by $400 Million. All of this because of 'naming rights' for their stadium are now in question.

The financial deal they thought they had with Citigroup--$400M/ 20-years-- may fall by the wayside.

Citigroup laid-off thousands of employees, and told Congress they were deep in the red. Their ledger show a debit for a payment to the New York Mets in the amount of $400Million, which didn't set too well with Congress. Especially, in light of, Citigroups' request for bailout cash. Congressman Dennis Kuncinich (D-Ohio) said, "It's totally unacceptable that Citigroup shouild be able to spend $400 M in naming rights, when they're recipients of a massive federal bailout" ( A sentiment shared by many of his colleagues, as well as taxpayers).

If the Citigroup has to back-out of the deal, look for the Mets to announce an increase in the price of tickets.

SUGGESTION:
Since a rotunda showing Jackie Robinson memorabilia/history is being built within the stadium, why not rename the stadium---The Jackie Robinson Stadium. It has a better ring than 'Citigroup Stadium'.:hmm::hmm::hmm:

Or why not just stay where they are and SAVE the taxpayers some money?? There is no good reason for them OR THE Yankess to be moving to new digs if economic times (and they are like that in EVERY city...Philadelphia included) are truly so bad.
