Someone changed Prince's avatar on Twitter following his death.
Prince was no stranger to showing off his “third eye.”
The mysterious singer debuted three lens sunglasses on Saturday Night Live in 2014 and then wore a pair again at the 2015 American Music Awards as tribute to his backing band 3rdEyeGirl.
HisTwitter avatar was recently changed to a cartoon-like version of himself with two eyes closed and one — on his forehead — suddenly opened.

There are multiple meanings behind the third eye.
In Eastern and Western spiritual traditions, the third eye — also known as the inner eye — is meant to serve as the gate to inner-spirituality and higher consciousness.
In Hinduism and Buddhism, the eye is a symbol of enlightenment. A mark on the forehead often appears on deities or enlightened beings, such as Buddha.
But Prince did not follow any of those religions.

He was born into the Seventh-Day Adventist Church and later became a Jehovah’s Witness.
Author Touré penned a biography about Prince observing that the icon’s lyrics were more about Christianity and spirtuality than anything else.
“Then there’s the guy who really is thoughtful and introspective and holds religious considerations close to his heart and ponders those questions sincerely and genuinely and deeply,” Touré told the Observer in 2013.

The third eye is also known to provide perception beyond ordinary sight — there are even ways to awaken it to become one with your inner self.
It is often associated with visions, clairvoyance and out-of-body experiences.
The symbol was recently featured in front of Prince while on stage during his last show before his death.
Whoever changed Prince’s avatar must have looked at the image as a sign that Prince is now at peace with himself in the spiritual realm.
