If i'd have to go with anyone i'd say Sam Langford. They didn't allow blacks to be champs if i remember correctly.

Him or Earnie Shavers. Fought in the golden era of boxing and the hardest puncher ever

Langford is a good choice but Shavers although a very good puncher had stamina problems and poor defense.
