I saw the film The Final Cut, starring Robin Williams on IFC today. While the film was not great, the premise is not bad. Full Wikipedia link is below, but essentially, in the movie parents have the ability to implant a "Zoe Implant", which will record the entire experiences during their child's lifespan from their POV. Williams plays a "cutter", a person who edits and creates a "Rememory" or movie of the person's life after they have died.
One of the subplots involved a group of protesters who believed the process to be wrong, that "cutters" could edit a terrible person's history/life to be seemingly good. I saw no basis in this argument, as it is essentially what happens now at wakes and funerals anyway, even persons known to have been "bad" in their lifetime are generally not spoken of in overtly negative terms.
My question however is, how would you feel, if it was possible, that someone (spouse, lover, family, whomever) could potentially have access to EVERYTHING that you did during your lifetime? Would you be ashamed of some of the things they would see? Would you want to see the lifetime of someone else?
