(I wonder what that album cover will look like)

If you don't already know, Nas will be debuting new controversial material in an album called "*******" (yes you read it right) sometime in February 2008.

Two songs that will definitely be on the album, as confirmed by Nas, are "The Fear (of the Black Man's Dick)" and "You a ****** Too".

The main board talked about the name of the album in Oct... CLICK HERE...to view their thoughts... but I havent seen them address these latest developments (the actual names of the songs).

I just wanted to get a more well rounded opinion because it seems that only guys responded to the thread on the main board...

I want to know what you (yes...especially lurkers) think.

Does the title provoke some thought, anger...or even non-nonchalance?

***Also, I can't help but wonder... if there was a song called "The Fear of the Black Woman's ________"... how would SOL fill in that blank...any thoughts...***

I don't like the word and don't use it. Mainly cause I work around white folk and have some working under me. If I heard them use it i would.......lets just leave it as that.

According to Nas...

"I wanna make the word easy on mutha----as' ears," he explained. "You see how white boys ain't mad at 'cracker' 'cause it don't have the same [sting] as '******'? I want '******' to have less meaning [than] 'cracker.' With all the bullsh-- that's going on in the world, racism is at its peak. I wanna do the sh-- that's not being done. I wanna be the artist who ain't out. I wanna make the music I wanna hear.

"We're taking power from the word," he added. "No disrespect to none of them who were part of the civil-rights movement, but some of my n---as in the streets don't know who [civil-rights activist] Medgar Evers was. I love Medgar Evers, but some of the n---as in the streets don't know Medgar Evers, they know who Nas is. And to my older people who don't now who Nas is and who don't know what a street disciple is, stay outta this mutha----in' conversation. We'll talk to you when we're ready. Right now, we're on a whole new movement. We're taking power from that word."

"If Cornell West was making an album called ******, they would know he's got something intellectual to say," Nas continued. "To think I'm gonna say something that's not intellectual is calling me a ******, and to be called a ****** by Jesse Jackson and the NAACP is counterproductive, counter-revolutionary."

Making it a part of everyday language will not lessen the impact of that word. There is too much history behind it. Besides the 'N' word is used a million more times than the word cracker, so I don't see his comparison of the 2 words. The only way to Neutralize the effect of that word is to get rid of it.

My $0.02.

:hmm:

More evidence that Nas is not as intellectual as people seem to think. Its also obvious he hasn't lost his infatuation to be like Tupac. Its sad an icon like himself has to resort to gimmicks to sell albums. :smh:

You niggas are so assbackwards. You idiots give the crackkkas the power to dictate how you feel just by using a meaningless word.
Wanna whip a nigga into a frenzy simply call him a ******. It's time for blacks to stop clutching on to that word. Get over it.

You have had nothing positive to say through that whole lil rant. First you used the so called tamer version of the word then you call ppl assbackwards then idiots. Wow it seems that you have some personal feelings about yourself that you are putting out towards others.

Ignore Bloodstool, remember he is the lame that made the lets hate on SOL thread then everyone turned on him and look where he hides out.

Do you honestly think I give a shit what anyone on here thinks? LOL@ being on here to make friends. You niggas take this messageboard thing way to seriously.
I gave my opinion on the subject just like everyone else did. If you don't like what I had to say then fuck you.

There probably is a bit of projection in my "little rant". As far as not having anything positive to say it just that I'm sick and tired of a good percentage of black people bitching about insignificant and meaningless shit. Then allowing themselves to be manipulated at the drop of a hat by some crackkka saying a old played out ass word like ******.
