The end of 24

Whether it's failing ratings or just purely the fear of going on too long. I understand it

The Shield and The Wire were two awesome shows but everything has a shelf life

I'm gonna miss Chloe's fine ass:(:(:(

The ratings are still great for this show.
But it's better to go out on top.

So far, this season isn't bad.
Even with the redundancy of some plot points.

I'm a fan 'til the end!

I think this is actually a good thing.

The show is still popular and you can now give the character's a break and come back with a great movie, which will be easier to do and the quality will be much better without the restrictions of not only TV but of the actual 24 concept itself, where everything has to take place in one day and their are 24 episodes.

With only having to make a two hour movie (give or take) the restrictions aren't there, they don't have to write or film nearly as much, and they aren't restrained by any concept anymore which gives them much more creative freedom.

They'll be a movie in the next two to three years and that will give Keifer a real comeback.

Not really. It typically ranks 3rd in its time slot and the ratings are down 10% from last year. Very expensive show to produce. It used to be a Top Ten show and now barely creaks into the Top Thirty.

Yeah Really.

"24" still maintains its position in the Top 20/30 for the week.
You can look at the latest Nielsens to see that.
Doesn't look like creaking to me.

And fact is not many shows these days retain "top 10" status after their initial debut anyway. This ain't the 70s.

But in this age of reality, unscripted TV, networks are cutting serious corners.
Hnce my comment about going out on top.

It's finishing THIRD in its timeslot. It's in the Top Thirty and not even the Top Twenty. It's down in ratings again this year. Clearly losing steam. Which part don't you get? The show costs a lot of money to produce, and needs really good ratings to justify its existence. There's a reason why it's getting cancelled!!!

Really?? Amercian Idol has been #1 or #2 for the last 7 years. CSI has been Top Ten for ages.

Well, it's far from "on top." That would've been several years back.

24 has made the same mistake X-files made extending the show too long.

- X-Files should've ended after season 6
-24 should've ended after season 6

goin to have to put my friend on suicide watch, this grown ass man literally turns of his phone, shuts down his comp, all the lights in the house and will sit in complete darkness on a bean bag watching that show, shits kind of scary. The other day we were going over some stuff, he looked up at the clock and told me and his girl we had to bounce. Poor woman so used to that shit she doesnt even argue anymore, she just picked up her shit and dipped out before I hit the door.

Look.

It's obvious you have some mental axe to grind.
So I'll say this again for you to understand...

Of Course a show of "24"'s caliber is expensive to produce.
And of course it's rating have gone down this season.
But the show has clearly maintain its status in the TOP 20/30.
You really need to take a look at the Nielsens to see that instead of acting like you KNOW EVERY GODDAMN THING!!!

That said...
FOX took an easy-out. Eight seasons is enough for syndication and DVD box set sales. And I for one have no problem with the show going out on top.

It ain't that serious.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, like,"24, the 2012 Agenda!" Bauer trying to stop the aliens from destroying mankind within 24 hrs. Sheet, that sounds good, I should write it myself.

im sure she'll turn up in the movie..along with, say, maybe tony LOL

hopefully fox will renew Human Target for a second season..

You actually like human target? I watched the season premiere and it sucked to me. But hey if you like it, hopefully they will renew.

Brah! Is you blind?

I see where you are going with this, there are chics on 24 that are way hotter than she is. But after seeing Chloe on monday nights for the past 5 years and the DVD of previous seasons she has grown on me. She's not a beauty queen, but she's got some qualities that make her attractive, at least in my eyes.
