The Aurora shootings show the possible dangers of tighter gun control laws.

The movie theater was located in a "gun free" zone. This potentially disarmed well intentioned citizens who could've defended themselves and the other moviegoers.

For those that have allowed this issue to influence their feelings on tighter gun control laws, what if a well meaning, armed citizen could've got a shot at the gunman? An off duty police officer? Serviceman? That would've possibly saved lives, which is supposed to be the purpose of gun control laws.

If someone is going to commit murder do you think they really care about whatever gun laws are in existence?

Yes, because in a theater filled with smoke and tear gas, with people running every which way and screaming, you want those with a hero complex to start firing their guns.

In this hypothetical situation, how long do you think it would've taken for one of those carrying a concealed weapon to hit another theater goer? How long before the new shooters shot each other or first responders arriving on the scene. How long before one of the cops shot one of the wannabe heros.

I swear, these right wing gun nuts aren't gonna be happy till I have to carry an AR-15 while I shop for groceries

My overall stance on guns in regards to self defense:

Using more violence against violence to create peace is like using more water to dry a wet shirt

Yeah teh anti gun control fools always take it too damn far. I remember there was a shooting in a bar and gun rights nuts were talking about how if more people were armed it would of made a difference. yeah cause a bunch or armed people drinking in a bar will make life safer.

THis is the bullshit line of logice the gun nuts always use when they advocate for the retarded gun laws in this country. lets up the ante lets arm more people to offset a rogue shooter...:smh:

freedom of speech is logically tempered with reasonableness....for example you cant go into a packed movie theatre and scream fire.

the right to bear arms should be reasonably limited as well

this maniac purchased 7thousand rounds of ammo off the internet he also purchased a hundred round drum for his ar-15 why does a private citizen even a fucking hunter need that much ammunition the shit is retarded.

The NRA has blood on its hand.

Recently released inmates at Arapahoe Detention Center in Colorado are saying the only thing the inmates still inside can talk about ... is killing James Holmes ... this according to a new report.Wayne Medley told the NY Daily News, "All the inmates were talking about killing him. Everyone was looking for an opportunity. It's all they could talk about." The paper says Holmes is in solitary confinement and was placed on suicide watch. Another inmate, Dima Damalov, told the paper that if Holmes was released into the general population he wouldn't "live to see Monday's court appearance." A jail employee said Holmes "hasn't shown any remorse" while an unidentified inmate told the paper, "He was spitting at the door and spitting at the guards. He's spitting at everything. Dude was acting crazy." Holmes is due in court for the first time on Monday. He could face the death penalty if convicted.

Hmmm

And who the fuck goes to the movies with their gun unless they're looking for someone to shoot, so even in somewhere like gun happy Texas, this type of shit can and has happened.

The far left, will never be happy until the criminals and the cops are the only one's armed. At that point the fun will start. I choose to excercise my right to bear arms, that doesn't make me a "gun nut". The way one chooses to defend themselves and families are up to that individual (at least in free states). YMMV

I'm sure there are people like that but that's not where most people are on this issue. The problem some of us are having is the leap of logic it takes to blame this on the movie theater being in a "gun free" zone.

No one says a person shouldn't have the right to own a weapon but lets be honest if the NRA had its way it would be easier to get a gun than it would be to get a car. Thats my issue with them. Complaining because you have to wait 3 days for a background check? Seriously? GTFOH. Oh and always running the line about if citizens were armed it would of been different. Said at Virginia Tech, Colorado, etc etc.

I carry concealed where ever is allowed by law. I'm not looking to shoot anyone, I'm exercising my right to bear arms and protect myself. Plain and simple....

The far who??? Sounds like you watch a lot of cable news PROGRAMS (emphasis of program).

This is BGOL, that left vs right divisional ploy doesn't apply here. We're all one community (albeit with different opinions). That said, when guns are involved there's a very thin line between cops, criminals, and civilians. They're pretty much the same thing just in different attire. Cops and military forces are a low form of human consciousness and so are "criminals" so it takes for civilians with a higher consciousness to set the example is the planet is to shift into a higher frequency of love and harmony. Holding on to your right to bear arm is essentially holding on to your fears. In the new earth there is no more fear. No more fear means no more need for weaponry.

Oh I see, because we don't share the same views on guns and gun laws. I must be a scared white guy. I see your logic. I guess we can agree to disagree..... I'd like to see where the other gun advocates that post in the firearm related threads, stand on this.

I'd like to see a hand verification :hmm:

I guarantee they live in fear. Fear is just an energy that precedes the action and the actions create the reality. On the flipside, love is an energy and when put into action it creates a parallel reality to fear. A reality that has no need for weapons ever.

If everyone understood this collectively as a planet (and they are) we would be doing amazing things as a species.

Exactly.

It must suck to be scared all of the time. Add penis envy to the equation and I can see why y'all white boys go postal.

I believe in the right to have a gun, but nobody needs thousands of rounds of ammo, or 50 guns. Shit is stupid. If you really think you're going to protect yourself from the government with store bought guns, then you must not pay attention to what our military is capable of. :smh:

How they gon shoot back wit teargas everywhere and no gas mask?

I always love hearing morons talk about if they had their gun they would have made a difference. This ain't the movies, but some think of it that way. The odds are NEVER in one's favor, when drawing a weapon on someone that has a weapon drawn too. Bullets don't fucking go in straight lines to whom you "wish" to hit. Going to the gun range every weekend don't make you a qualified marksman. Thinking that if someone had a gun, in a tear gas filled room, dark, people screaming and running, bullets flying at your ass, that you could pull your weapon, aim, fire, and stop the attacker, is just plain STUPID! Keep living in that movie filled mind of yours though, I'm sure it will take you far in life!

You guys aren't thinking this through. You think the problem is with the guns and their availability but its not. Its with the crazy guy.
Without guns, people still figure out ways to kill people. He could have packed a truck full of fertilizer and created a homemade bomb and drove it through the theater. He could have taken compressed air and connected it to a vat of acid and sprayed acid on everybody in the crowd. Homemade flame thrower, moltov cocktails, etc.; there's always a way.
The natural course of action for SCARED PEOPLE is to try to ban/remove whatever the person used but their choice of tools doesn't matter. If they are going t6o kill you, they are going to kill you and that's that. The truth of life is that safety is only a state of mind.

Man I'm all for people carrying pistols but why on earth would any person need a damn assault rifle....

all off duty police officers are allowed to carry here in houston.

I m all for concealed carry...but I don t think I would have gone shooting in that situation unless I was very close to the guy.....

too many innocent bystanders chaotically running in a dark smokey theater

you shoot and hit the wrong person....that s your ass...

Plus dude had on vests a throat protector...your 9 mm or a .45 wouldn t have done shit to the guy....
