The Supreme Court has lifted an injunction in July that blocked the Trump administration's restructuring of federal agencies. The ruling has allowed planned layoffs to move forward. Around 40 pending dismissals across 17 agencies have proceeded amid ongoing legal challenges. Some of the agencies include the Departments of Agriculture, Commerce, Energy, Housing and Urban Development, Interior, Labor, State, Treasury, Transportation, and Veterans Affairs, as well as the Environmental Protection Agency, General Services Administration, National Labor Relations Board, National Science Foundation, Peace Corps, Small Business Administration, and Social Security Administration. Layoffs have proceeded in late July and August. The Trump administration accelerated "sweeping federal layoffs" across affected agencies.
