He’s too 39. Stevie Ray Vaughan (Stevie Ray Vaughan)
![]()
Above anything else, Vaughan was an instrumentalist. It was as if the guitar was an extension of his own body. He played with passion and emotion, often visible through his facial expression. Vaughan defined blues rock at the height of his career, one that was cut short by a fatal helicopter crash in 1990. “Cold Shot” is a gem in his legacy.
No Brian May?That list is steaming garbage with a few worthy guitarists on it.
Bearing in mind this is a rock guitar list,
Slash is trash. Probably the most overrated guitar player ever. His NAMM appearance was a disaster. George Harrison, top 25 naw. Eric Clapton is overrated as shit too. He can play, and I can see him being on a top 25 list but for what he is known for doing, so many are way better. Hendrix, Prince, SRV come to mind immediately. Robert Cray cut his head on NightMusic. Keith Richards? GTFOH. He's a bad Chuck Berry imitation at best. It brings me great pleasure that Chuck Berry knocked him out once.
Off the top of my head, my picks for top 25 rock guitarists in no particular order:
1. Jimi Hendrix
2. Chuck Berry
3. Jeff Beck
4. Eddie Van Halen
5. Prince
6. Carlos Santana
7. Jimmy Page
8. Vernon Reid
9. Brian Setzer
10. Steve Vai
11. Gary Clark Jr.
12. Sister Rosetta Tharpe
13. Scotty Moore
14. Andy Summers (listen to his solo on The Police's "Driven to Tears")
15. Eric Clapton
16. David Gilmour
17. Nuno Bettencourt
18. Jeff "Skunk" Baxter
19. Joe Perry
20. Robin Trower
21. Eddie Hazel
22. Joe Satriani
23. Stevie Ray Vaughn
24. Alvin Lee
25. Ernie Isley

Classical Composer Reacts to While My Guitar Gently Weeps - RIP Prince
Nah. Not because he's undeserving. He'd def be an honorable mention. No Brian May?
Underrated many times. This cat was a human instrument. id shit that can't be copied..Top 20 in every instrument he played and he played them all.
The best concert I have saw was their Prince post-concert jam session
Had to go back and revisit his music when I read he made that list. My father and uncles were fans of his story telling style about struggling to get by and come up. It's so old fashion now, but he was the siht back in the day. So many of the others that made the list credited him with inspiring them.
He does nowDid he play the harp? Serious question.
I see what you did there lolHe does now
She's dope. Talking early 70's, 80's 90's classic rock she's an icon. She doesn't seem to be in the conversations about the best guitar players, but she probably should. Stairway to heaven, Barracuda, and Crazy on You are up there with the best of that era. What do y'all think about nancy wilson from heart. I think she can hold her on with the guys?
Remastered
Mofokr showed them how their shit should be done
